Just received an email from J&G Sales that they now have the new 715's... It states:
The Dan Wesson revolver has returned! CZ has brought back the venerable DW 715, with quick removable barrel assembly, stainless finish, and the high level of accuracy Dan Wesson is famous for! In 357Mag, with 6" barrel, rubber grips, and brand new in a hard case, for $1059.95
Dan Wesson 715 revolver chambered in 357 Magnum. Returning to regular production, the 715 is as it was before — designed and built to be the most accurate, rugged and versatile revolver on the market.
The tensioned barrel of the DW interchangeable barrel system enhances accuracy, pulling the barrel tight like a guitar string, enabling it to vibrate at the same frequency every time. The forward crane latch, located in front of the cylinder and paired with a rear ball detent helps to ensure proper cylinder/barrel alignment during firing. Superior to the rear locking designs of other revolvers, it adds to the accuracy of the 715. Additionally, the clockwise-rotating cylinder reduces stress on the crane, since it turns in the same direction the crane locks, prolonging service life and keeping everything tight.
The 715’s polished stainless steel frame is robust, built to handle the heaviest of factory loads. Featuring a 6" heavy vent shroud barrel, which is interchangeable with barrels from the original DW 15-2 series and newer, adjustable sights, and DW logo Hogue rubber Monogrips. Built to withstand the pressures of 357 Magnum rounds, this revolver also accepts 38 special ammunition. Includes custom Dan Wesson hard case. Patterned after the ever-popular Pistol Pack, each case has compartments for three additional barrel assemblies and comes with a factory-supplied barrel wrench kit. New by CZ #01932.

Big price for sure... That means they'd probably want 3 G's for a Pac..

Is it my imagination, or does it look like it has a side plate on the left that old revolvers did not have? A question for old timers.
Answer to that question would depend on whether there is a link to a picture, but
"New" 715's from CZ are not new, they have run this rodeo before.
They are "new" because they want to get $1000+ for a $600 gun, and be advised that they had no problem dumping a bunch of "blemished" guns on the marketplace last year.
Edit to add the LINK
They are selling this as "polished stainless steel frame"? Brushed stainless, maybe, but no new CZ 715 I've ever seen comes close to polished, and I've handled at least four of them in the past two years
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Sorry guys but I do like it and I've seen it on sale for 750. Compare it to an equivalent new S&W. The Dan comes out ahead for me. Too bad I already have 2 monsons.
$750 is a big improvement over list

Would be nice if they were reasonably priced.

I finally got the chance to take an up close and personal look at a new 715 today. A new firearms dealer opened up, not too far from my home, and they are a CZ dealer (http://www.fullarmorfirearms.com). I went there to pop-off a couple hundred rounds in their indoor range. They have two of the new 715's in stock. The one I looked at had a nice lockup and well defined "clicks" when drawing the hammer back. The taper cut into the top of the barrel shroud is interesting and gives the gun a pleasing profile. I was a little disappointed with the finish, it looks like not much time was spent with getting a finer brushed look, with the cylinder having a rather rough finish. This display model I looked at had a very noticeable scratch on the side of the barrel shroud (leading me to think this might be one of the blemished ones that have been floating around). Overall I didn't really see a $1300 value (or "on sale" for $1249.99). For me, the new price is gonna have to drop south of $1000 before I'd be willing to bite. And CZ/DW will need to get a finish on the cylinder that matches the rest of the gun.

Hey Wayne. I saw the shop when I was Houston last week, but did not get a chance to stop. That's disappointing. For $1300.00, that 715 should be perfect. If it was a factory blem, I think it would have been noted in the serial #.

Wayne, I know you were out of town the last time CZ ran this "introduction". I handled several then, and my comments were exactly what you are saying now.
CZ does not really respect the DW revolver heritage.

Pretty disappointing to hear that. I guess I should count myself lucky I bought a Monson 15-2 and saved a bunch of money too.

Help me out here.
Is the S&W 686 6 in. .357 be comparable to the new DW-715? Apples to Apples?
If this is not right please let me know.
If this is right, a price comparison : the MSRP for the S&W is $829.00. The MSRP for the DW is $1168.00
Is a barrel wrench and the ability to change barrels worth the additional $339.00?

Not exactly comparable; the DW is a much heavier gun. So, small apples to very large apples. The Dan is probably more accurate as well.
That said, I think we all agree that the pricing on the new 715 is quite high. Perhaps that's due to low production capability, although you'd think that CZ could handle that.
Look for a used 715 in excellent condition. It'll probably be cheaper than the S&W and you'll probably enjoy shooting it more. Then you'll discover the fun of customizing it with different barrel assemblies and perhaps a custom grip from LB. And then you'll be hooked and DWAS will bite (infect) you.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

When I look at the revolver showcase at the LGS, and match up price tags on S&W, Ruger, and DW, I ask exactly the same question, BUT
1) I really only like shooting .357 in a 4". I discovered that because I was able to compare 2/4/6/8 inch barrels over an extended period of time on the same gun
2) I already own (or have owned) all the DW revolvers I ever want. If I ever stumble across an S&W Model 66 no dash at a good price, well, maybe

Mike, I have been the proud owner of a FB 715 for a few years now and I find myself in the same situation as a lot of people who trade cars the second they make the final payment on their old car. For some reason they just have to have a new one! I love my old 715 and there is nothing wrong with it. But, with a capital B, I just can't get the new model out of my mind.
