A quote from an anti-hunter on New Jersey's bear hunt:

"Another opponent, Susan Kehoe, calls the bears "beautiful animals" and claims a mother once left her with cubs in her care."

(Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/12/05/new-jersey-black-bear-hunt-is-on-despite-animal-rights-protests/?test=latestnews#ixzz1fhXKNAIZ)

ROTFLMFAO!!!!  roflroflrofl  laughing  rofl

The only way a mother bear is going to leave her cubs in the care of a human is if the human just killed the bear.  Sheesh!  I can't hardly believe she would make that claim.  rofl

But then again, apparently the anti's think the bears can be trained to avoid human inter-action.  rofl  The only way that is going to work is with a 30.06.

I know I'm not supposed to make fun of dumb animals but those anti's are hysterical.  rofl

Geez I didn't even know New Jersey had bears. I did know New Jersey is full of liberal idiots, I try to completely avoid the state myself. Although sometimes they come over to tourerize PA.

My apologies in advance to ant DWF members from NJ.

I had heard there was a pretty big increase in bears up there, to the point of being an infestation. I am all for live and let live, and like the idea of having wild animals out in the wild. Backyards, dumpters behind McDonalds is not the wild.. but thats were the bears are. Which would YOU choose ants or a Big Mac for free??? Bears ain't that dumb.

Now if I had my druthers.. they would catch and and release them ... down here!! ( so we can shoot them!) Just sayin'.

Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box

in that order.

"New Jersey's Department of Environmental Protection cited almost 3,000 instances where there was human bear interface, with 46 of those involving bears actually entering into a residential home."

Not entirely unrelated, I live in a mid-sized CT city, a fully populated area with houses on lots (not in the country AT ALL) and there are coyotes active in the neighborhood. My wife won't take the dog out at night, when I take the dog out I'm very alert and watchful, and of course, I always have a "friend" to take along.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I hear ya on the coyotes, Steve.  I live in the suburbs but there is a small den of coyotes in a 10 acre green space less than half a mile a way.  I see them on rare occasion.  The coyotes are a real problem just a couple of miles farther out.  Small dogs and cats are disappearing.  It makes a sad, yet interesting, fight between the animal rights(?) people and the homeowners who lose cherished pets.

Supposedly there are no mountain lions in this part of the country.  At least that is the official line despite two or three reported sightings a year.  I encountered what I'm virtually certain was a mother and her two cubs about 10 years ago.  I was walking into the wind an undeveloped area that my employer owned.  I got about 10 yards from a line of excavation rubble when mom and cubs popped up and bolted for the woods.  It happened so fast I can't be absolutely sure but I'm virtually certain mom and cubs all had long tails.  Mom stopped at the woods edge and stared at me.  I stared back.  Mom disappeared into the woods when I bent down to pick up a rock.  If those were bobcats, they were huge bobcats.  If she had wanted me, I doubt I could have fended her off.  She was too big and too fast.

Wildlife is much more adaptable than we think but it is still wild.  There is no way a mother bear left her cubs with a bear hugger.  Just cracks me up that she was stupid enough to make that claim.

I have a window in my office that lets me look out into the warehouse. I often leave the overhaed door open so I can see through the warehouse and outdoors.

Last week I was sitting in my office looking outside around 2 in the afternoon and a big old coyote goes strolloing down the street. This is in an industrial area about 300 yards off of a 6 lane road about 5 mile from DFW airport. Not exactly in the wilds of N. TX.

I walk out to the dock door and yip at him. He just sits and stares at me. All I could think was.... wish Dan was here... BOOM range-time

To the paranoid people who check behind shower curtains for murderers:

if you find one...what's your plan?

Of the animal rights people I have ran into "stupid" seams to be one of there most endearing and common treat.   R S
