I recently traded into a DW fixed sight, 2inch .357 revolver. The grips have the script DW logo and it is a interchangeable barrel system. 6 digit serial # The d/a trigger is very good on this revolver and single actions is slick. Looking for general info and suggestions for different barrel lengths. it really is a beautiful gun. really desiring a m/s gun. so where do I start. Thanks for your suggestions and taking the time to help the new guy out.

The best place to start is right here.  It's the first sticky in the Revolver section; What Model do I have?  Welcome to the Forum!

A six digit fixed sight DW .357 is almost certainly a 14-2.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks for the welcome! I believe I have a 14-2. I will post some pictures soon hopefully.

Question? Is the barrel mount system used on the DW's (ie barrel nut/shroud) the same as the system used on the X-framed revolvers from s&w?

I haven't disassembled an X-frame, so I can't say how similar it actually is to a DW. Plus, I can't imagine any of the Smiff parts would actually interchange.

I don't know specifically about the x frames, S&W has used the shroud and tensioned  barrel design on some guns, but they were not designed to be user "changeable".
