Maybe I didn't research back far enough but I was wondering the time frame of when the Norwich produced DW's began? Is that the time when CZ picked them up? Are the CZ made interchangeable with the Monson and Palmer made? Are the CZ made as desirable/collectable as the Monson or Palmer? The reason I ask is I picked up an 8", vented, heavy, blued, .357 for a shooter at a gun show in pretty good condition yesterday. It was close to what I wanted in a .357 but not a Monson like my others. Any thoughts where serial number RV9XXXCZ would put it age wise? Thanks! Joe

Dan Wesson guns were made in Norwich before CZ bought them. Dan Wesson guns are still made by Dan Wesson. Dan Wesson moved to Norwich when they were bought by Bob Serva. I think that was late 90's to early 2000's. I don't know what year CZ bought them after that.
Later shrouds will fit older frames and vice versa. Some guys like to have the roll marks match but for a gun that will be shot neither the paper, steel or animal will care if they match.
Someone will be on shortly to date your gun.
As far as collectability/rarity. By what I have seen Monson guns are the most common then Palmer then Norwich. I haven't been watching the auctions so I don't know if the DW/CZ made 357's are bringing more on the used market than a Monson made or not.

In 1996, the Wesson Firearms brand was purchased by Bob Serva, who renamed the company Dan Wesson Firearms and relocated to Norwich, NY. The factory was retooled with modern CNC machining equipment, and in December 1997 the first of the “new” Dan Wesson revolvers shipped from the NYI/Dan Wesson factory.
In early 2005, CZ-USA purchased the rights and manufacturing facilities of Dan Wesson Firearms. Revolver manufacture was continued for several years, with a focus on large caliber revolvers, notably the Alaskan Guide Series.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

As far as collectibility goes, they are very collectible. Especially the First Issue guns and the ones that were only made at Norwich like the 7460 and Alaskan Guide. I find the fit, finish and quality of the Norwich guns to be some of the best I have. I'm still Jonesin' for a 360/460 and AGS.
