Cf:
I don't think so. The shroud is clearly roll-marked .44 magnum. This makes this yet another anomally; a .44 magnum shroud without ports. I was sure that all .44 mag shrouds came with ports. All of mine have them. I wish I'd seen this in time.
Did anyone here get it?

Woops, I should have included a link...I think his other one is the one SMF was talking about. Sorry about that.

Regarding the .44 BA...someone actually hit the BIN on that thing for $444.44?? Holy crap! It's not even NIB...looks pretty well used, from the pics.

First let me say: I can't believe I read the whole thing, which is mostly correct, BTW.
Actually, considering the current cost from DW is $433.00, the extra $11.44 is well worth it to get a Monson made and rollmarked shroud.
I'm quite sure I would have done the same thing, but then I'm crazy.

ps. you're right about the other barrel being for a SuperMag. The heavy bands at each end are a dead giveaway.

I agrree the other barrel was a SM barrel, In your defense Mike, I agree if you are looking to build packages that go together the stamped shrouds are the way to go and it was worth the price if you would have been willing to buy a new one from CZ anyway. the blued ones for $500.00 to $600.00 though, make a person sweat a bit. If I did not already own a stainless 10" Monson assembly I may have made the click happen also.

My .44 has never been shot with the ported barrel. Beyond the weight of the DW not needing ports, I never wanted to clean up the mess inside the ports.
I would pay a premium for the Monson markings. I've been looking for a 6" VH 44 shroud for a long time...off and on since my .44 was new. I saw one on GB that was pretty trashed and I quit at $150...it sold for $275. I just snagged a NOS BA for $250. CZ wants something like $304, so I'm still $ ahead and have the markings I wanted.
Just to keep up the giggles, I recently scored a "as new" Monson 6" VH .22 shroud on GA for $145 delivered. I'd already bought 2 6" .22 SS barrels from CZ on sale for $15 each. I always felt I was "cheating" when I put the .357 shroud on my .22; now I don't have to.

I'm with you on the cheating part as I use a 357 shroud on my 22 some times. I haven't been able to land a VH6 22 shroud yet. But someday one will come.
