Subtitle- Eric, are you watching this?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-15-Dan-Wesson-15-2v-357-Magnum-Pistol-Barrel-Shroud-/200785569174?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ebfc0a596

This is CRAZY! Bid up to $665 with 3 days to go?

With all due respect to anyone here who is bidding, but really? This is nuts!

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Steve,

It's a 15" - they routinely go for $600+.  I'll bet it hits $800

Breaking up a pistol pac that came with a 15" barrel!  jaw-dropping  I don't blame a guy for trying to get top dollar but breaking up a pac!?

Ebay is loaded with BAs right now.  It seems one guy isn't just breaking up packs, he's breaking up GUNS, there are cylinder and crane assemblies from at least four differnet calibers, there are hammers, trigger groups, etc.

I can understand pack breaking ( I wouldn't do it) but to strip working guns for their parts, that is either greed or desperation.  Either that or a great way to covertly fence a stolen gun and make money doing it.  I've often wondered how often parts for things on ebay are 'hot'.   I assume they were working guns since all the parts are listed as good condition.

Maybe the guy is on to something, kind of like an automotive recycling yard.

Only thing requiring an FFL would be the frame right?

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

There are people that buy guns and break them up. They are usually confiscated or "buy back" guns, the serial numbered part is already rendered useless by crushing or cutting out a piece. The buyer salvages parts and resells them.

The only part requiring an FFL is the Serial Numbered part, on a handgun that is normally the frame, one possible exception that comes to mind would be a Ruger MK I/II/III .22 lr pistol

This isn't a bad price, I doubt it will stay  at 655.00, 15 inch barrels go 700.00-800.00 on Gunbroker. I don't think any members here will sell one of theirs for less.

I don't know if I'm buying the story that this barrel was actually part of a Pac originally. Unless I'm terribly mistaken (very well could be), 15-2 PP's shipped with 2" thru 8" barrels. Extra BA's were ordered separately & look out of place when stuffed into a Pac case.

Just one guy's pre-coffee opinion.laugh If anyone out there has what appears to be a factory 15-2 PP with a different assortment of BA's (I.E., the factory appearing foam has factory appearing cut outs for the BA's), somecool-pics would sure be welcomed.

I'm sort of seeing that some of those custom S/N DW's from the Monson "Glory Days" were actually Packs that got 10/12/15 shrouds thrown in as a bonus. These guns were for people special to Dan or people close to him and/or Dan Wesson Firearms. I don't think they were special "Pack Cases" cut to handle 7 barrels, the extras just got sent along.
