Good one Harley.

Must have been owned by a little old lady who only used it to drive nails on Sundays.wink

OMG yell and pray tell how would one fix this with out bobbing the grip to get

rid of the missing chunk ?

How about that rusted and pitted snub BA a couple weeks ago that said :

"with a little cleaning and some oil i thin it will mostly go away"

Whats worse is there are 18 bids on the thing for $133!wow  That needs a full reblue assuming of course that its not too badly pitted.  There are good ones that only sell for a little more.  I don't get it.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Heck yea it's pitted, look at pic number three on the auction. I got tractor attachment

been setting out in the weather for 15 years that look that rusted. Some body is going to

be taking a lot of metal off to get that even close to smooth unless they are figuring on

filling it with Bondo surprised.

Got a new one here:

"This pistol has a very nice bead blasted finish with almost no marks or dings."

How do you have "almost no marks".  Either they're there or they're not.  They can't "almost" be there or "almost" NOT be there!!!

I bought a barrel assembly off Ebay a few weeks ago, the description said 'like new', and 'all parts in excellent condition'. I got it, the shroud has small rust spots that wouldn't Flitz out, a little bluing wear on the front edges, and very light scratches here and there. What I assumed was dust in the pics were rust spots. I know I should have asked questions before bidding, but I thought 'like new' was a pretty specific description.

Seller did offer to accept a return for refund of purchase price and original shipping. But I decided to keep it I sent it to Blue Ridge for a reblue, I will be into the BA for more than what it's worth but hopefully it will really look like new.

Got a new one here:

You are bidding on a like new in box S&W 5906 9MM. This one is in very good to excellent condition. It almost looks unfired.

I can't really figure out what the condition is....good, excellent, like new, unfired....which one is it!!!!!

A guy has a grip on Ebay now, the ad says it is a Pachmayr DW-G for Dan Wesson 'new in unopened packaging'. It is a pic of an original Dan Wesson wood grip that is stuffed into a Pachmayr package. I would try to tell him but maybe somebody will want it anyway it looks like a nice grip.

This one was listed by a dealer who should know better.....

Like New Dan Wesson Model 15-2 .357 magnum. This is a Like New condition 15-2 in great condition.
THE OVERALL FINISH ON THIS MODEL 15 IS IN GREAT CONDITION, AND SEEN ONLY MINOR USE. THERE ARE SOME VERY SLIGHT SIGNS OF SURFACE WEAR, BUT NOTHING MAJOR. THERE ARE SOME PUNCH MARKS ON THE FRAME NEAR THE REAR SIGHT.

I hope I'm not offending anyone here, but......does this really look like excellent condition with minimal handling marks?  Geez!!!!!

This is one case where I would agree with the statement "the pictures tell the story".  By they way, whenever I read "the pictures tell the story" I usually run the other way!

Harly, looking at the pics, to say 'minimal handling marks' about that one is an outright lie. Looks more like an old truck gun to me. I hope nobody ever pays the asking price for that.

Hmm, my definition of "Excellent" must have come from a different dictionary!

if you find one...what's your plan?

No, not excellent. In all fairness, the worst looking part of that gun is the grip.

But NOT a $500 gun.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

You guys are spoiled rotten. So many people couldn't figure out how to screw a barrel in that there are bunches of gorgeous dans that barely got used. Most other brands as old are beat up.  I am just as spoiled. lol. If you think it is to much money, just wait 6 months. Shrouds on ebay have gone up 50% in the last year. pristine guns are bringing python prices and unless the economy goes to hell , that gun will sell eventually.

This is one that I thought was worthy of posting in this old thread.  It's jut plain annoying and really spoils the fun of searching and scouring the ads and auctions.  First, reading something in all caps. is like being yelled at - I don't know many that like being yelled at.  Secondly, who gives a rat's a@@ if the previous owner was a doctor?  The occupation of the owner doesn't matter, but it sure is stressed that since it was a doctor, it's more valuable.  And RARE?  Please - S&W made tens of thousands of these guns - they're getting harder to find and more expensive, but by no means 'RARE". There's just too much nonsense B.S. here to sift through to even remotely become interested, but the kicker here is the ridiculous statement that "IF IT WAS SHOT, IT WAS AT THE FACTORY, AS I CAN'T SEE ANY SIGNS OF SHOOTING AFTER THAT".  Seriously?  Who on this planet can tell where a gun was shot by looking at it?  Just annoying.

THIS IS OUT OF AN ESTATE I AM SELLING.THE ESTATE MANAGER JUST DROPPED OFF THIS GUN AND A HK ELITE 9MM.BOTH RARE BOTH GUNS AS NEW.THESE GUNS WERE BOUGHT BY A DOCTOR/COLLECTOR YEARS AGO.THE DR.HAS TEST FIRED IN HIS SHOOTING LOG FOR THIS 617.THE GUN HAS THE CORRECT PAPERWORK,TOOL KIT,AND BOX.THIS IS A COLLECTORS DREAM TO HAVE ONE OF THESE 617 NO DASH 4 INCH GUNS SHOW UP.THE 617 4 INCH NO DASH HAS BECOME A CULT GUN,OR HOLY GRAIL GUN AMONGST SMITH WESSON COLLECTORS.AND THIS GUN IS COMPLETE AS IT CAME FROM FACTORY.THE UNFILLED WARRANTY CARD AND TOOL KIT ARE SELDOM KEPT WITH A GUN THAT WAS MADE IN THE 80'S.IF THE WAS SHOT,IT WAS AT FACTORY,AS I CANT SEE ANY SIGNS OF SHOOTING AFTER THAT.THE INSIDE OF THE FORCING CONE STILL HAS A SHARP EDGE TO IT.MY DEALER WILL TAKE A CREDIT CARD AND PAY ME.THERE IS A 3% FEE TO USE A CARD FOR PAYMENT.A LOT OF THE GUNS I HAVE SOLD HAVE COME FROM THIS ESTATE,SO PLEASE LOOK AT MY FEED BACK TO SEE HOW HAPPY THE BUYERS ARE AND THE DR.WAS EXTREMELY METICULOUS ABOUT HIS GUNS.ONLY THE BEST COMPLETE GUNS WERE PUT IN HIS COLLECTION.THE HK ELITE 9 MM IS IN THE SAME CONDITION.THE GUN WILL SHIP FROM MY DEALER TO BUYERS DEALER.THERE IS A 3% FEE TO USE A CREDIT CARD.

Here's another one worthy of noting....if you see something like this, please, run the other way!

"Not sure if its ever been fired outside of test firing. Its been in my safe, in its case, and unused by me."

I had to look really close and examine the photos, but unless the previous owner just liked putting idiot scratches on a new gun, you can bet she's been fired some.  Now seriously, a statement of this sort this is just plain ridiculous.
