Expensive hobbies?  Fishing the Gulf turned out to be CRAZY expensive.  With the F250 diesel 4x4 the cost of each fish caught so far makes me ill !!!!

yep, 6 years around Destin, FL... did my share of fishing !!!  People don't realize that when it comes to fishing boats it is gal/mile, not mpg.  I was there when the gas prices started to climb a few years back--LOTS of boats for sale all over the panhandle.

I meant to post these the other day when Steve posted his...better late than never?Smile  This is two of the three glass enclosed cases I've got stuffed with 1:18th (mostly) cars...the enclosed cases are nice because I don't have to clean as often.

These pics were taken a while back, just before that CT70 magically turned into a 7445 SM.DWAS

I've got maybe 18 more 1:18th cars scattered around the house, most of which are in their own single car sized clear plastic case. Since I started buying DW's, I haven't bought any new cars.

Harly nice boat and 250!  Is your F250 a 2011, I really like the new ones.  I've got an 03 and love it!

Here is where most of my extra money goes and for those of you that own old homes you know what I mean.  Our house was built in 1880 and there is always something that needs to be done or painted!

Actually, here's my latest expensive pastime (much more than a hobby, I guess)

We can't stop buying stuff for her, I'll bet my wife has stuff put away already to see her through at least High School Smile

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Well, I found another bargain for my youngest son Josh...  A 1979 Honda Z50-- believe it or not, it starts right up !!! I rode it around the yard twice before the rear tire went flat...  needs a little bit of work (like removing the lawn mower gas tank and finding a cap for the original tank).  The best part is I traded a savage .22 rifle that I had $70 invested in for it Laugh...  This could be a nice restoration project for us.

Wow, look at that...a real Z50 that still moves under it's own power!occasion

BTW, those handlebars look like late 90's flavor XR50 bars, not that that makes any difference in it's ridability.Laugh

As soon as I bought it, I thought the same thing about the bars… gonna have to do some research.
I'm lucky the rear wheel went flat as soon as it did-- as soon as we started to tear into the bike we found it had ZERO oil in it !!!  I need to order about $30 in parts just from initial inspection to get it running safely.

Thanks Photo! We love it... They do require a lot of attention (and money) to maintain though.

Okay looks like I might have a new hobby that will take some of my funds!  I just got a new Nikon D5000 DSLR.  I've only taken a couple dozen photos so far but it seems like an awesome camera. All I can say at this point is folks be prepared for some serious competition for the 2012 calendar.

Wink

Thanks Photo for the guidance on my purchase!

I finally gave up on cameras like that because I knew they were capable of so much, and I'm not. Along those lines, I'm spending a couple of hours each night coping with/learning a new smartphone (Droid 2) and it's much smarter than me Embarassed

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Jody, I have just about the same camera, ony it's a non-digital 35MM film camera. It takes great photos, and I've been planning on getting a digital brother to go with it. Hopefully you & I will be in serious competition for 2012.occasion hehe lol2

OK, I need some mintrail engine help...

The Z50 is running fine, but it is puking oil out of a factory hole in the front of the head.  Hole is supposed to be there.  I pulled the head off all the way back o the crankcase--the "hole" is an oil passage that leads all the way back to the crankcase.  There doesn't seem to be any type of valve anywhere--just an open passage all the way to the OHV's.

Any help?

Jody:

Speaking of expensive hobbies and Nikon.  I now have 27 Nikons, well actually only 23; 4 of them belong to my wife.   Most are film but I have several digitals in the collection as well.  Definitely an expensive hobby.

Enjoy your new toy.  It's definitely an exceptional camera.
