This morning I was updating some historical information in the site supporter section and while doing some research went to the Historical Pics Part 2 topic. Instead of cool photos of a Dan Wesson Action Cup I was presented with this...
I know some of you guys like using Photobucket and other such sites but I strongly urge you to upload the photos you post here to the Dan Wesson Forum. The host that we have backs up the site and I periodically download the entire site as well. One of the purposes of the forum is document what we know about the various Dan Wesson companies, the individuals behind them and the products they produced and photos are an integral part of that documentation. By hosting our images here on the DWF we ensure that the integrity of the topics we create will stay intact.
I will be verifying that the information under the FAQ on posting photos is up to date and if not will be updating it.

I am as guilty of this as anyone! I agree that it is best to upload photos to this site, to preserve their integrity.
For me, it wasn't a big deal to host my photos off-site, until the host site I use (and have been using for 9 years now) was hacked one day & I lost hundreds of photos that I've posted on this & other forums over night! I was just a wee bit PO'd when that happened.
Good Morning Guys,
I have updated the FAQ for uploading photos. You can find it on the FAQ page. It would be much appreciated if some of you guys that have not previously uploaded to the DWF give it a try and let me know what you thing about the instructions and if anything needs to be changed or added.
Thanks!

Hi Jody,
Guilty as charged...
I removed all my pictures from Photobucket and (attempted to) cancel my account with them. This was after I had found all my Photobucket pictures were openly available to the public. I haven't uploaded any of my firearm pictures to any other web picture hosting service since that time.
If you are still interested in a couple Action Cup pictures, I have uploaded them to the forum. I still own both ACs and have them in storage back in the US.
I looks like we will be moving back home from Australia by the end of this year; I hope to get acquainted with my collection soon after
Cheers,

Hello all!
So about pics... all mine are hoste at googles picasa, so far they are unmolested.. but google seems to be thinking about getting of picasa for goggle drive or some such. Its not clear. I know I am no longer happy with picasa.
I would be willing to upload all my picasa pictures here. But that does not help with what I have already done.. that is I could upload everything, but is picasa goes then my old posts will have broken links unless every post I made with pics is re linked to the newly uploaded DW hosted pics. I cant really see me going through every post I made.. and one by one editing the post with newly DW hosted pic. Is there a better solution? Can I mass post all my gun pics to DW? Is that wanted.. if they then have no link to a post?

in that order.

Wayne, thanks for taking the time to fix your pic links! Good to see you around, too.
Pine, maybe just try to fix whichever pics you may run across that you have posted recently, and in historical threads. It would be great to ultimately fix all dead pic links (my own included), but chances are there won't be many views on threads 4-5 years old.
