My new to me 44 came with both a 8" ported and a 8" non ported barrel. However the non ported barrel has buggered (my non techie term) threads on the frame end and does not screw into the frame completely. So I am left with using the ported barrel for now. Hard cast is my preferred bullet and I have acquired a large quantity to use.
I have read the DW instruction booklet that came with handgun and note the bold suggestion to only use jacketed bullets through a ported DW barrel. My old school definition of the word suggestion, is that it is a mild command. However I read, mostly on a cast bullet forum I frequent, that shooting cast in ported barrels is a non issue provided ones loads are not causing leading (duh) and a more frequent cleaning regimen is followed. While these opinions do not specifically mention DW's in particular, several threads did drift into stuck shroud issues common to the absence of powder fouling cleaning.
Sorry for being so long winded, but what say you cast shooters? Do I look for another non ported 8" barrel or use the ported one I have?

Not sure if you mean that it cannot be repaired or not, but I believe I recall someone saying the factory has more 44 barrels in spare parts inventory recently. Send an email request to Genny, their Office & Production Manager ... Genny@cz-usa.com

It may be that a thread chaser can easily fix the threads. If not, new barrels from DW or used ones from eBay are available. The ported barrel can get the shroud leaded up in one session of shooting. One box of 50 can do it.
I am leaving thread repair up to the previous owner. He nor I unwrapped the barrel when the deal was done. Shame on me but he has graciously said he will make the deal whole. His choice to whatever fashion he wishes. I believe the threads are beyond repair so I am looking into barrel availability and cost.
Meanwhile I want to shoot what I have but 50 rds doesn't justify travel and range fees. My range does not allow off firing line ie; parking lot, tailgate, gunsmithing/cleaning, either.

Another source is EWKArms...if he is still doing them. I bought a 4" tube for my .44 some time back and the work was first class.
Long ago I bought some .22 barrels from CZ (on sale) and was not so happy with them. The threads were a bit short on the back to screw into the frame and there seemed to me to be a slight flaw in each of them where the grooves start.

EWK is no longer offering those or complete barrel assemblies. He's removed quite a bit from his website unfortunately.
