Been running rounds through the model 15, getting it and me dialed in.  But I have an issue seeing the front sight well and consistently.  If I use my cheaters that really helps but that's not really practical for carry.  Do any of you deal with this and if so how?  Thanks

First off, give one of the higher visibility front sights from Dan Wesson Arms (right sidebar) a try. I'd suggest getting several, yellow, white, fluorescent green maybe?

Second, your eye doctor should be able to prescribe tri focals to allow you focus at the arms length point.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks Steve.  Can't do anything about swapping out front sights, this is a model 15 porkchop with fixed front sight.  I do have sight paint and will try that.

As far as bi-/tri-/vari-focal glasses, I had those a few years back when the presbyopia first started to show up (couldn't read on an airplane, or after reading on a long flight couldn't read the signs in the airport for several hours).  I don't need any distance adjustment, so these were just something to keep reading glasses on my nose.  But I hated them, and they made me stumble because the downward peripheral vision is screwed up.  Hoping the brighter front sight helps, we'll see (yes pun LOL).

If you can't swap the front sight, try a little dab of fluorescent paint. I put some white out on my old Ruger MKII once I determined that I couldn't see, uh....  s...quat.

if you find one...what's your plan?

Different people see green as sharp and other see red as sharp. I like green The EWK sight is the cat's sass for me.  I have a S&W model 60 and I painted the front ramp with Testers Green. Works great and cost less than $2 at Wally World.

I believe you can swap the front sight, it just requires driving out the pin, marking and drilling the new sight and re-installing the pin. Several guys here have done it I believe.  Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I tried the original yellow on my .22  It worked on cloudy days, but when the sun was out the sight reflected too much light for me to be able to get a good sight picture.  I might try some of the new colors.

I wasn't sure about swapping out the sight, not sure if the new sights will fit the slot (if there is even a slot of sorts) in the older guns (maybe with some mods to a new sight?).  If someone has done this please share if you will.

I'm going to try the paint, start with green on the front (over white base).  My rear site is white (thin lines).  Understand that presbyopia pretty much hampers the ability to focus near-in period, so I'm hoping to be able to see the gaps on the sides between the front sight and rear notch, that's where I'm struggling (so I'm shooting left or right, especially after a shot and trying to reacquire the sight picture).  When I shoot with my cheaters, I'm pretty solid.
