...and around again.
It started up again because of this, currently listed on epay:
So, before the thread gets side-tracked, I know about SBR implications, and the $200 tax stamp to make them legal.
Back to my craziness:
Has there ever been a discussion on the DWF or elsewhere, or has anyone ever tried to modify a Thompson Center Contender/Encore Shoulder Stock to fit a DW?
They both have similar frame tangs for grip/stock mounts.
The angle of tang vs. barrel looks close in picture comparisons. I do not have any to do a side-by-side comparison. Nor have any local owners volunteered to let me make in-person comparisons.
I have heard that there were some dimensions changed between older and newer Contenders/Encores. This is where a Thompson Center aficionado with an encyclopedia of Contenders/Encore knowledge would come in handy.
Flame cutting on the arm not an issue: welders sleeve.
Forestock solution: If I modify a shoulder stock, I can modify a forestock pending results of shoulder stock. Also an option is rail install in bottom of shroud.
As you can see I have spent TOO MUCH TIME thinking of the over the years. Why? Because if been done before, it can be done again. These images have created this unholy obsession:
I have even considered something like this:
Yes, I have reached out to custom stock makers over the years. Only one reply with: "I might try...$3K+...need your gun..."
Let the madness begin!

Don't think I've ever seen one of those for a revolver, and definitely not for a DW. It looks cool, but I wouldn't fool with it.
My only interest would be as a novelty, or historical artifact, like the old Broomhandles or such. For practical use, I don't see where it's got any advantage over a "braced" pistol, like an AR. As you've mentioned, there's the "SBR implications, and the $200 tax stamp", and I don't care to deal with that for a novelty.
I notice that the poster on the "Dan Wesson Fan Club" snip in your post was from Austria. I'm going to guess that he doesn't have to deal with the same "SBR implications" that we do! If I could get one of those legally, with "no mess & no fuss" at a decent price, I might be all over it!
Regards,
Jim
