So where do most of you get your range ammo? Do you order online? Do you buy at the range? Do you use your own home made?

1) I need to reload, but no good place to do it except in the garage-brrrrrr for too much of the year
2) WWB (Winchester White Box) was my choice in 9 MM and .40 S&W until the ammo shortage of a year ago. It became non existent, and now it seems higher priced
3) A local shop, the biggest retailer in the area, runs specials on 1,000 round lots, and that is whan I buy
4) I need to reload!
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I reload all my own including .40, .45, 38/357. I try to cast a lot of bullets in the summertime so I have enough to load all winter. I load in the basement so I can stay warm.
Even a single stage can save money but mostly it just means you can shoot more. Hope you find the room

I don't cast my own yet, maybe in a year or two. In the meantime I have been reloading using some Berry's bullets I bought from Graf's a while back. (Thanks to IHMSA for a great idea for a place to shop!)
Here's batch of my first ever .44 reloads last year.
Other than .45 ACP, I haven't bought any factory ammo since last year.

Wallyworld still has the best prices that I can find anywhere. I guess if I bought in bulk from Luckygunner.com etc, I could do a little better, but not much. WWB is the way to go! It is a little more expensive than it was a few years ago, but when Wally is charging $32.69 for 100 rounds of .45 ACP 230 FMJ WWB and the local gun store is trying to rip people off for $49.99 a box, I call it a DEAL! Plus it gives me more money for , and I don't have to pay shipping and handling.

And, I need to start reloading....am currently saving all my used brass from .243, 9mm, .44, .357 and .45. Plan on starting to accumulate tooling for reloads. From those of y'all that have reloading experience, what is the best press to start with?

As a beginner reloader, I have found the basic press works fine for me. After a while, I may want to move up to a progressive press...but for now, I can potentially screw things up just fine with a single stage RCBS press.
My kids gave me THIS RCBS starter kit for Christmas '09. I had to buy dies & a few other pieces to get going, but that kit covers most of the basics.

Thanks, Steve. Good info, especially the bundled kits question. Sounds like the RCBS Rockchucker is the way to go.
When I did reload (so long ago that everyone was excited about that new smokeless powder thing ) I had a Rockchucker. There are a variety of Rockchucker Combo kits out there, Cabela's has a very nice one as I recall.

At this rate, you're gonna claim that you were close personal friends with Ben Franklin...or that you voted for Calvin Coolidge.

I have enough 9mm and 357 loaded to engage a small country
Good one.
And, let it be said that...

Well, since you mentioned it, I remember well the afternoon that Teddy Roosevelt and I took a ride up San Juan Hill
Seriously, though (and this is a flagrant Topic hijack), speaking of the Old Days, I just stumbled across my Grandfathers old footlocker in the garage rafters. I had forgotten I had it.
I can still read the letters stenciled on the side: First Lieutanant, Artillery, AEF
It's only a few years short of being 100 years old.

That's really cool, Steve. Any old firearms hidden away in there?
