Nice Range Day Report!
That Taurus revolver was really grouping great, looks like you got a good shooter there.
The 709 has all the makings of being a good carry gun.
People want to beat on Taurus, the only negative on them that I've ever heard is on the Customer Service side. I owned a Taurus .22 revolver that I dumped fairly quickly, I probably expected too much from it.
Interestingly enough, on my last pass thru the local Cabela's, I saw 4 PT 1911's in the used gun case/Gun Library, all priced at or below $499. This is a stupid low price for a well made 1911. There's a lot of potential in a true Series 70 1911, which is very user friendly for upgrading, at $500. For less than another $500 you can get a lot of drop-in, minimal fitting upgrades and have a great shooting 1911.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I was very please with the Taurus Tracker .22. Only 22lr with me so didn't have the chance to work out the mag cylinder. Next trip. The only complaint I have about the 9mm Taurus PT 709 is the verrrry long trigger pull. Not so much a complaint I guess, more of an observation and probably not a fair one. I picked it up after a lot of time spent shooting the 741 an PMGD.
If I were in the market for a 1911 shooter, I'd be all over one those PT 1911.

Thanks Scorpio. Rested the .22 briefly to figure out what it was doing out of the box with minimal input (the bad type) from me. Ran 2 cylinders (18 rounds) at 8 yards and got a good sight picture and POA. Moved the target out and shot everything (all calibers) free hand for the rest of the day. It really helped that after days of high TX wind, it was calm as could be.
I have to say that the 741 V8 surprises me every time I shoot it. From day one it is by far the most consistently accurate handgun I've ever owned or fired. It never fails to get a reaction on the firing when I take that big boy out and with the 1st shot ...BOOM... dead on! Amazing how many folks wander over and want to know what I'm shooting...

Nice shooting! My 741 gets the same reaction at the range, and it is also very accurate. Probably why I have several DW's in my favorite revolver cartridge, the .41 Magnum. Of course, using H-110 and W-296 gets a lot of attention in just about anything.

IRRC, someone here kind of talked you into looking at .41 Mag as an alternative to .44 Mag?
If I ever went to the "Dark Side" (big bore DW) again, I'd go .41 Mag also, I think it is a shooters caliber

That's very true, someone did. That darn Ron!
In all fairness, Steve was the 1st one to talk up the .41 then Ron piled on. Add into the equation that I started reloading and well.... I'm glad those guys opened my eyes to a really great caliber.
Come on Steve, do some wrist exercises or something and rejoin the Big Boy club!
