I recently saw a Dan Wesson 357 with what looked to be a rattle snake painted on the grip. I think it was a fairly early Monson gun. I was wondering if any of you had more information on that type grip. It looked pretty sharp. Was this common and were other designs besides the rattle snake used?

If you're referring to this one on GB recently...uhhh, no. That is not a factory DW grip design.
That is an attempt at a likeness to the grip in Eastwood's gun in the movie "Fistful of Dollars". The grips on the movie gun looked 95% better.
The seller also states that the gun is "in new condition, never fired"...I have serious reservations with that claim. If the gun was honestly never fired, then the poor Pistol Pac rode around under the seat of someone's Ford Highboy for at least a dozen years. Mountain roads, washboard dirt roads, speed bumps in da city, whatever. If that's the case, then at least the guy didn't store it in a cardboard box. There, that's my positive thought for the post.
At the least, I hope someone carved that from the missing grip blank that originally inhabited the square space in the foam. If so, then kudos to the carver for creating a unique piece!
