Getting ready to have cousin shoot revolvers for calendar submissions next week.    What are recommended polishes for stainless and blued revolvers?

I was told most auto metal polishes may be too harsh...(Turtle Wax Chrome Plolish, Mothers Aluminum Polish, etc; etc;)

What are you using that is local off-the-shelf, and safe for for bringing out that deepest blue without removing any?

Going to hand-polish them.

I stayed in a Holiday Express recently so I think I am qualified to spout an opinion. I use Flitz on blue guns but I rub it in with my fingers very gently. Let it dry a little and wipe clean with a soft rag. I only do that once, when I acquire a used gun. Dans can be up to 50 years old and although they may not look rusty there is a layer of imperceptible oxidation on top of the oxidation called bluing. When wiped down and oil free I use automotive carnuba wax( mother's is what I use) to further protect and shine. The same goes for stainless. Stainless has a protective layer of oxidation and the Flitz removes that and makes it look new again. Over time it will oxidize again.

Do not use Flitz on Nickel guns or Titanium. I would just oil them and then wipe off the oil and wax. I would be very careful using automotive polish but try it first in a spot that would not be noticed. More experience folks will doubtlessly give you good advise too. Many folks use Renaissance Wax.

I use the Renaissance Wax on all my stainless and blued guns. It's non abrasive and safe to use on about anything. It's used in museums on paintings, leather, wood, metal. Just a little on your fingertip to apply it(lightly) and buff. A little goes a long way.
