Good Evening Guys,

I had a few questions and sent them to Keith at DW.  Below are the question and answers (some good and some bad):

  • Q: Can shrouds be custom engraved?  If so can you do emblems or is it just lettering?
A: I can engrave emblems if you provide them in a Jpeg format.  Lettering is no problem either
  • Q: I have a 738P and would like to get a 4" barrel and shroud.  I know this is not listed on the parts list but didn't know if this could be a custom job?
A: Is the 38P the 38+P?  If so no we do not provide barrel assemblies for that model and I can not custom make one either.
  • Q: I have a 732 and was wondering if I could get a new cylinder reamed for the new 327 mag?
A: I can ream your cylinder to use the 327 I have done it for other customers as long as you have a 32 H&R and not a 32-20. I could also fit a cylinder but this is very expensive
  • Q: Last but not least are you accepting any custom orders for revolvers?
A: I am sorry but I am not taking custom revolver orders.  I do not have the time anymore.
  • I normally send Keith an email about every 6 months asking if he will do a custom order.  I think if we're ever going to get a custom order is if we could get enough interest here for 10 or so guns.  Probably would all need to be the same frame size...

If anyone is interested in this idea just respond back to the post!

I am probably not up for a custom revolver, but a DWF Custom Shroud is a MUST DO. I think if we can develop a DWF Logo, and do something with the logo and members screen name it would be awesome.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Yeah, I would be interested in a custom shroud. I asked about getting a 44VH8SS shroud with the first issue emblem but he said he didn't have the program for the laser anymore. Maybe I could draw it up. I have no. 311 in vvVH6SS now.

Thanks for asking the questions Jody.

Sounds like Keith is currently plenty busy with 1911's & doesn't want to mess with revolvers.

I'd go either way on the custom revolver idea. If there's enough interest among the rest of our members, then I'll get in on it & support the idea. Any caliber is fine, as long as it goes BANG.Laugh

The DWF member's custom shroud idea sounds pretty cool...cheaper & easier too, for all concerned.Smile

Have to throw in my $.02 with Steve: Engraved DWF shroud is a must!  Hadn't considered screen name, but that would be great!

A custom shroud sounds great,( makes me wish I had a cooler sounding screen name) although with the recent jump in prices I would hate to see what a custom one would run. If we do it though I will have to pony up. As far as a custom revolver gos it sounds awesome, but I am afraid they would be out of my rent district. However if we do get to the point of having them made I certanly will try and find a way to fund it.

I don't think now is the time to approach Keith with the prospect of a revolver custom order.  I know they release several new 1911 models this year and I'm sure they are busy.  If I'm not mistaken they only produce around 3000 units a year now.

I think if we want to do the custom revolver deal we need to shot for approaching him in 6 to 9 months once we have firm commitments from members.  I think we would need 10 confirmed to make it worth their time.  That's just my opinion on that.

As for the custom DWF shroud I think that sounds like a great idea!  We need a logo that's for sure!

I'll try to come up with a logo here in the next few weeks that we might be able to use.  Again if anyone of our members has a graphics background and would like to help please let me know.

    Thanks, Jody

Custom DW revolver, I'm in. Don't know how I would pay for it but I'd figure that out somehow. May I suggest the large frame 360 DW. That's one I need for the collection.

Custom shroud, cool!! Get the particulars figured out and let us know what options there are.

Droolhey lets think about working on shrouds for all the calibers, DWF members prepaid group orders with unique logo  and calibers to be voted on by members. if the factory will take orders, in lots of ten or twenty, we can shootRange Time foe a speciific caliber, length, shroud styleand dated for that year each year. this could snowball.  i'm in!occasion
