I was able to get a 4" blue barrel and shroud for my 744. I am looking for an affordable way to try to match the shroud finish with the satin stainless finish of the 744. Hard Chrome, ceracoat or another finish? Or just use it as is? What do you think?

Hard chrome would have a similar appearance but the shroud needs to have the metal prepped properly It would need to have smooth brushed sides and a blasted rail/underside. Silver DLC might be another option.

You really can't match stainless with a plating or coating.  You can probably come close with hard chrome or brushed nickel, or a coating which would certainly be ok for shooting.  If you're a perfectionist, I'd sell the blue one and find a stainless barrel and shroud.

For reference, here is a hard chrome finish compared to stainless.  The full underlug gun and barrel ass'y. are stainless, the other is hard chrome.  The color tone on the stainless is duller.

Interesting to see the two side by side. With most online photos of a gun in hard chrome, it's hard to tell it apart from a stainless piece. But these photos clearly show the difference. Dakota Jack, thanks for posting these photos! cool

Does anyone have a comparison photo of hard chrome and Cerakote?

smileYou could go two-tone!  Put a blued cylinder on it with the blued shroud and stainless frame.

Cerakote comes in 200+ different colors.  From what I've seen, I believe DW has used black, and at least a couple other colors, so it might be tough to make a good comparison.
