I have not purchased a new Smith and Wesson for many year's. I own a few and have had no reason to upgrade. So I have not been keeping up with their latest "Improvement's". But I found out and saw a while back that on some of their new revolver's they have two piece barrel's. With permanent barrel nut's / crowns.
A shroud and barrel. And I have read and seen where they are coming loose on some of these gun's. And the owners have no way except through a gun smith or their customer service dept. to tighten them. Has anyone else heard of this? Plus I have seen and read where their internal lock is locking some of the gun's upon recoil when firing.
They sure ain't the S&W I used to know.

A couple of the models you are referring to are the 329PD and 360PD, among others. They're awesome, but certainly not guns that you would be shooting on a daily basis with full magnum loads - they'll tear your arm off! The 360PD weighs in at 11.4 oz and the 329PD at 25.1 oz. They do not have a barrel nut and yes, they would require service if the barrels were to come loose. I haven't read any reports of these issues but I have not been following them closely. They're nice guns.
