I just got these pieces in the mail today--much cooler than I expected...  First is a SS non-fluted 22 cylinder.  Very nice high polish finish--it is complete with the fitted extractor.  I have a plan for this cylinder--I just need to fire up the lathe and fit it to frame.

Next are some 357 mag VH COMP barrels.  Yes, you read it right... 357 Mag 🙂  (anybody ever even seen one of these?  Eric, I'm going to need a wrench ! ) First pic shows the two shrouds--notice the difference between the standard SS and the "bright finish" SS shroud.

Image Enlarger

The top barrel is a true 6" barrel-- the bright finish one is actually a 5" barrel.

Image Enlarger

I screwed the bright finish on a standard 715 frame to give you an idea just how polished this shroud is -- Steve, this is your goal !

Looks like I'll be working on my polishing skills also--I can't let a shroud this good looking go unmounted 🙂

Cool Pics

Your correct, I have never seen comp shrouds for a M15/715.  Nor a non-fluted cylinder on a 22.

Get a frame polished up to look like that shroud and you'll have a show quality piece. Jaw Dropping

That's one of the things I like about these guns is that they are very interesting. The finish on that shroud is outstanding. I'm not familiar with another company with so many variations of the same gun. I wish I could run into some of these unique things you guys seem to find.

Now I see why Steve wants to polish one of his guns.  Maybe I'll have to get a second unit of one caliber to polish, myself. I can't wait to see Steve's finished polish project.

Man that is shinny! It's going to take a few hours to get the frame up to that shine.

Cool stuff you found there. I take it it didn't come from CZ. Nothing like a shiny Dan Wesson.

Nope...these are a long cry from CZ 🙂  I purchased these items from a Palmer plant DW executive and they are from his personal collection.  I don't have any idea if they are one-off items, or how many were produced.  They will remain in my collection until I'm gone 😉

The sharp clean lines of the letters suggests the shroud was roll stamped after it was polished.  For someone wanting to attempt to produce the same high polish, I don't think they will get the same look around the roll marks.

Wow--you must be a little psychic...  The wife and I were discussing DW's, the kids, the will, and if DWF would be around in 40+ years.  We talked about DWF dispersing my collection after I'm gone.
