We all know that we should carry extra ammo no matter what platform we shoot. Carrying reloads for revolvers isn't quite as convenient as for autoloaders but it must be done anyway. I prefer speedloaders over loose rounds or two by two set ups even if they are a bit bulky and I'm particularly a fan of the Safariland variety. When I compare them to the more commonly available HKS version I find them superior in every way except that they are almost twice as expensive. The rounds are rigidly held and their alignment doesn't change, they don't rattle and only need to be pushed forward without having to turn the knob.
I'd really like to hear from anyone who prefers the HKS as to why they like them better. If anyone can give me insight into why they are so much more common, I'd appreciate that as well.
I look forward to hearing from some of y'all soon, thanks!

I use the HKS, mostly because they're easy to find round here in "rural" & the price don't hurt either.
There are actually 2 different HKS for the .357 DW's one the "10A" allows wobble to speed loading with rounds with semi-wadcutter type bullets & the other the "10" (no "A") doesn't wobble, or rattle, for use with "pointy" ones.
I also find the DW with its forward cylinder release actually works better than rear-locking Colt, S&W or Ruger designs. Here's how I do it, but it does take practices as does any process involving manual dexterity.
1: release the cylinder latch with the Left hand, & open the cylinder. The right remains on the grip at this point.
2:
Change the grip to the Left hand round the cylinder with the thumb on the ejector rod. Turn the muzzle vertically UP at this point. Press the ejector with the Left hand to dump the fired cases, as the Right grabs a full speedloader.
The right hand is now free to grab the next speedloader while the Left reverses the gun to a muzzle down position. The Left continues to hold the opened gun by the cylinder. push the case noses into the chambers
Still holding the (now loaded) cylinder Left handed, rotate the release catch of the speedloader with the thumb & forefinger of the Right hand. (The Left prevents the cylinder from rotating at this point.) This releases the rounds into the cylinder & gravity does the rest.
Now move the empty loader clear of the revolver & drop it.
Close the cylinder left handed while re-gripping the pistol grip right handed!
Bingo, done! (The whole thing relies on the unique position of the DW release so it feels "odd" if you're used to a Colt/S&W/Ruger), but it is actually pretty fast.

I have 1 HKS and 5 safarilands, I really enjoy the safariland loaders more. Certain "sharp" ammo (Remmington golden sabers especially) are horrible to use in speedloaders with sharp "mouths" or crimps.
I had been meaning to check out SL variant speedloaders, youtube sure makes them nice, but the price (30$+) is a turn off.
