OK so I got a new 15-2 barrel pac. It was supposedly unfired and from the looks of it I believe it. They did swap out the 8" barrel for the 6" barrel at some point. the tool is slightly bent so it looks like they wrenched it down pretty good and it may have been 20 years ago when they did. I tried to remove the nut tonight and it isn't budging. Before I really start bangin on it I wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions. Dont want to strip it or break my tool. Ideas???

You will very likely break the plastic on the original one, if that nut is stuck bery badly. If I were you, I'd order one of Eric's super tough ones...click the pic link on the upper right of this screen.
My latest DW purchase had a stuck barrel nut. Using one of Eric's wrenches, I cranked on it hard & finally broke the barrel free from the frame, it spun out with the nut still attached. The nut still looks as good as new, too. They're great wrenches.

Thanks for the tip. I got it out eventually with a bit of WD40 and one really messed up hand. Think Ill be ordering one of Eric's. Looks a whole lot more easy on the palm than that tiny handle on the original that jabs into your hand waaaay too easily.
Only problem now is that I got the 357 all set up and looking nice but.........now I want a 44 mag or a supermag

Yeah I got it. What is anyones opinion on the Supermag? Ive seen a few but the one question that came to mind is "why'? I mean the regular will shoot 357/38 or 44 mag/44 special etc. Can you get the supermag ammo? I did notice many of the Supermags are ported and I LOVE the look of that. Any opinions appreciated. Also want to get a 22 or 722 that I can start my son on; any tips on those models?

Are you kidding, since the dawn of time men have been on the quest for the biggest and baddest, sort of a more power thing. That is why, as we are men, men, men, men, oops sorry got a little carried away there.

Well, Labelleb as LBruce mentioned just because... IMHO Supermgas are just cool. They pack a punch and have some size to them. I once owned a S&W 460XVR and hated it. It was awkward to handle and the Supermags just seem to fit me. They can deliver some terrific velocities with a common found bullet. You can get ammo for most of the Supermags from Reeds. He is listed in the "where can I get ammo for my Dan Wesson" at the right tab. Primarily Supermags are a handloaders operation. The 414 and 375 are the hardest to get ammo for because there are fewer of those guns in existance. The 357 Supermag aka Maximum is likely the most accurate of all Supermags when used with the intended 180 grain bullet. If you have any interest in getting started with a SM I recomend starting with model 40 357SM. They are the easiest to obtain and the easist to shoot. Did I mention that they are just cool?......
A man cannot have too many SuperMags
YOU WILL LEARN WE ALL WANT TO GET OTHERS HOOKED I would suggest you try the 357SM aka maximum also it will put the 357 mag to shame with not much more felt recoil. And I also recommend Eric's barrel tools you can get the small, large and ask for all the caliber pilots .22 ,.32,.357,.375,.41,.44, and it will allow you to keep the factory tool as a collector piece. For you and the family!
I can't believe no one has done this yet

Ok I see the logic now It seems everyone here has that DWAS
I have to say, the venting and the barrel shrouds DO look really cool on the supermags. This year's bonus bought the 357 barrel pac. Thinking next one buys the supermag. In the meantime Ill look for a 22 version to start my son off with 😉 I actually like the look of those 722 ones but they are hard to find

Bryan:
Glad you got your nut off. Sorry.
Just SuperMag's are, well, Super. The .357SM is the easiest to shoot and has low recoil, almost imperceptibly more than a regular 357, and certainly less than a .44 mag.
The 445 with full-house loads can be a handful. Boy, another pun. However, the 445 is great to shoot too, especially if you've got some water-filled milk bottles.
It's great to see another case of DWAS.
