I just got snookered on GB.  Their bid clock was out of sync with teir real-time clock.  I waited to the last minute and it told me what my minimum bid must be.  I entered the amount I wanted to bid and clicked submit and it responded with " This auction is clodsed. The item has been sold."

I had been waiting 10 days to bid. I guess I'll bid before the last minute from now on.  I'm really irritated.

BUMMER!Broken Computer

Wait…were you waiting until the last minute, or until you got within the 15 minute bid window that GB uses? With Ebay, you can wait until the last minute & sneak in your bid…but with GB, if you put in a bid a minute or two before the aucton ends, it resets the bidding clock to 15 minutes.

So with GB, run the clock down to maybe 16 minutes before bidding ends & slap your bid in…then the clock will run down like normal, unless someone else puts in a bid before it ends, in which case it will reset at 15 minutes again. Then it gives you 15 more minutes to decide if you want to up the ante any, or just let it go.

Sorry you missed out on something you wanted. Since I'm at least part to blame, you can Slap me if you want for even bringing it up.Cry

Wow--that's a shame.  I usually bid at the 16 min mark also.  You never know, that one minute difference between running the clock down and having it start over could be the difference of someone logging in to bid at the last minute.

I have seen the time clock be out of sync before too. Not sure why but it does happen. You also have to watch the time zone you are in. Its a shame you missed out.

My 744 is the only gun I ever bought on auction, and I had watched it go around at least once at a reasonable opening bid with no takers. When it came up again I bid at the opening bid about an hour before the auction closed, and got it.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks for all of the commiseration guys.  Yes, on GB I always wait for the 16 minute mark (1 minute left) before I bid.  Thistime it got to 54 seconds.  Just bad luck that the clocks were out of sync.  Oh well, sometime there will be another one available.

With the 15 minute rule on GB waiting does not work, you can't really snipe anything.  I well place my highest amount with about an hour to go, then come back in a hour and a half.  You win some you lose some.
