Has this site always been on the slow side, as in not much activity ?

Very little posting going on here.

Super357guy, it seems we are still in the summer doldrums. When the Northerners are housebound the activity heats up. Although it is a little slower than usual. Sometimes it gets a little tiring to repeat the same things that folks can learn by reading. I think it should pick up soon.

Yes, things run a little slower summer and early fall, but we are a fairly narrowly focused forum. 4600+ Members, but many (most) join and come in for some pretty specific information or purpose, and move on.

We are, however, very happy to have new Members who join for whatever reason. I am regularly surprised at the number of people who join from outside the USA.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Agree with Steve and the other Ron- Summer is slow and Folks drive by for information and then never contribute. I would guess there are about 20-25 core members and that's about it.  Not a ding, just the way it is.  Kind of nice as there is more of a "brotherhood" feel here than anywhere else.

I have to admit I mostly just read posts because I'm still a relative newbie to the DW.  But without this place I'd never have learned anything about my 15-2 I bought on a whim (not to mention the other DW toys I have now).  They should be handing out this website when the new 15-2 owners pick up their guns.  They might be able to avoid the confused looks like I had when I tried to figure out how to use the feeler gauge.   Lol

I agree, this is a great forum for wealth of information and super friendly regular members posting and helping all of us new guys out.  That's the reason I joined the Dan's Club, I almost felt compelled to donate; I had never done that on any forum prior, but since have donated to a few more, as a way to say thanks.

I received some statistical information from Jody. It is a fact that the slow business here is due to the majority of the members, 84%, drive Fords and are busy fixing them, leaving no time for this forum.

Stovepipe, that's a great looking pair! Which one is the hot rod?laugh

I have some Fords, but none are as old as yours...and most are still in project mode, so I shouldn't post pics. I do have one from the Ford family that I've finished, though. This is a 1977 Continental Town Car, with a fixed glass roof.

Those are some beauties! I especially like the 1930 Coupe. Did you restore them yourself?

Steve and I have an uncle who has restored classics for years. I think his first was a Model A, then he specialized in REOs.

Haha!lol2 The "straight-arm lean", rollin' slow through the hood? Sometimes for fun.big-grin Although this one is more suited for that, it has more of the "gangsta look".laugh Funny story...we had a young guy at work, whose car died & he had to walk a few blocks from work to catch a bus. I saw him walking one evening after work & pulled up in front of him, then rolled down the window & asked "hey, want a ride"? He had a terrified look on his face, until he recognized me, then he replied "damn, I thought I was gonna get shot"! Hahaha!!rofl

I restored both of the Model A Fords, did everything except the pouring of the engine bearing Babbitt. The coupe is my favorite because it so lite and even with a 4 cylinder it is peppy. lol2

I normally jump in at about this point to discuss "Staying on Topic", this one has gone so delightfully off topic, all I can say is

KEEP HAVING FUN!!!!

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
