Work has been so busy lately, I've kind of been on a DWF hiatus ... but today I have a reason to jump on and post...
In the same day I picked up two nice items-- First was a Ciener 1911 .22 conversion kit... I have it on my Patriot 45 and the fit is very nice--I hope it functions well. I'm going ot be on the lookout for a 1911 frame to keep it on permanently (maybe a Rock Island 1911 frame)
Second item was a real find...A Star Megastar in .45 .... kind of rare, 12 round capacity in Starvel finish... beautiful condition. By the way..... these are HUGE !!! Always wanted one just because...

Very nice Shoot. I have a JAC 22 kit for my Beretta 92, I like it, fun to shoot and cheap too. Too bad 'old Jonathan Arthur got himself in dutch for not filling his orders and stiffing some customers. They make the best 22 conversion kits out there.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

I came pretty close to picking up the Ciener conversion a couple of weeks ago. North Cove Outfitters (local, independent business) has gone out of business, in their last days the gun case had this conversion priced for $200, next to the sign that said "accessories 50% off". I was told it was an accessory, my eyeballs went , then the guy in charge said "we don't own that" and it could not be discounted. I guess it was a consignment of some kind.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I had a firestar .40 back in 1993 when they first came out. Awesome little gun but heavy. I blew the extractor out of it by shooting hot 200gr bullets in it ...
I was offered a firestar 45 yesterday for $300 -- I passed... Other than the Megastar which I have always drooled over, I prefer my 45's to be in the 1911 style.

Rod- I really like the look of your PD. The Star PD's seem to have a bit of a bad reputation for not being very durable, what is your experience?

Steve I own two Star PD's. They are very close to being the best conceal carry gun. Mine are extremely accurate. The problem with the PD's is the feed ramp in the alloy frame is service harden to a depth of .030. This would not be a problem if it was not for the Polish The Feed Ramp Club who have damaged more PD's than I like to think of. The PD in the picture was a wreck having fallen in the hands of an idiot gunsmith. After I reworked it I had it CeraKoted which solved the feed ramp issue.
Don't over look the Firestars for concealed carry. R S

Update--
Fired both guns today ...
First of all, the megastar weighs in at 3 lb 8.2 oz fully loaded ... quite a handful. It shot low at 15 yards, but grouped well. Fun gun to shoot...
The Ciener conversion is cool -- only ran about 300 rounds through it of Rem bulk ammo. Pretty much flawless cycling, especially since I just slapped it on the DW frame without any additional lube. It shot slightly left (1/2") at 15 yards, so I'll drift the rear sight a little.
1911 with 22 Ciener kit feels good in the hand--very light. Fun to shoot especially if you pick it up after the .45
I need to do some accuracy testing with it, but so far I'm happy.
