If you are an NRA member, you've probably already received this. I am just facilitating 'widest distribution'. It's an article on the UN "Small Arms Treaty" to be crafted next year:

This is not a BS scare tactic by the 'far right', it is (should be) a legitimate concern for all Americans. Here's an extract from a 2008 UN Disarmament Affairs document:
"If national law enforcement officials were able to trace small arms back to
their last legitimate owner, who might then be held accountable, this would
constitute an effective measure against the illicit trade in small arms and the
diverting of weapons to the illicit market."
The entire document is here:

You can voice your concerns by writing your Senator, I have:

Parting shot from the May 2011 meeting:
"Last but not least, the presentation of Mr William F. Kullman (ATF/US representative) on the E-Tracing tool suggested that the trace is successful if it leads back to the first purchaser."

This has been a hot topic on our local board for a while now. (Mississippians are such rebles)... I think the hope is that the UN ideas while "mainstream" in thier own country, are so extreme here that we hope Congress sees the problem.
