Thanks going out to all those who have or are serving our great country! We owe you all a great debt, the freedom we enjoy would be impossible without you.
Here is a special shout out to my father Staff Sgt, USAF 1950-1954, 5th AirForce, 5th Comm group Seoul Korea 1950-1952, you are MY hero!
Some of the things he saw and endured while there make me cringe when I think he lived through them.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Every day is Veteran's day!
This is the best post I've seen on DWF in a long time.
For current Active Duty, Pay is OK
Medical benefits suck. If you knew what Active Duty military has to go through to see a doctor and get effective treatment, it would shock you. Welfare recipients and non-citizens have access to better healthcare than our American Heroes. I have personal knowledge (very personal) of how hard it can be for Active Duty military to see and get treated by an actual Doctor,
I have a good friend and co-worker that is a Vietnam Veteran and is clearly suffering after affects of Agent Orange and God Only Know's what else. He spends many hours of his life managing the minimal benefits available to a man who asked no questions and went to do what his (our) country asked of him. Peace be with all of the families of American Heroes who have fallen, and I'd like to remember our cousin Edward John.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
