I was wondering if anyone ever missed the days when our guns could be displayed like works of art. When I was growing up I always told my Dad that some day I was going to have multiple glass gun cases around a large room with my gun collection displayed. I had an older friend that had large glass cases with old Browning shotguns, rifles, and handguns. I thought it was the coolest room ever. Now I jump ahead 40 years and everything is locked up tight and or hidden. I have 40 plus guns of many types and I do not tell or show anyone what I have. I missed those times. Does anyone else?

Yep.  When I was at a young age I too thought someday I would have a gun collection displayed as well. I visioned an enclosed coffee table with a glass top displaying the best handguns, as well as wall racks of rifles.  Those days are very long gone.

I agree. I had a P 08 next to a P38 in a glass case hanging on the wall. Over the mantle was my Colt Lightning rifle. Now, they are all displayed in the safe. Shame

I understand your feelings on this. With the exception of posting pictures, none of my guns are "available" anyplace. Safe, lock box, or deeply hidden.

In my role as a responsible gun owner, there are no guns available or accessible to anyone except my wife and I. There is also a progression of "availability" and "effectiveness" as needed.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
