Need a little back up here guy's. A buddy and I attended a gun show today and ran across a very interesting piece. I've seen these before but never in person. A dealer had a very well made Smith and Wesson model 19 that had been re threaded to except Dan Wesson barrel assembly's. I was allowed to handle it by the very friendly dealer. It had the 4 inch VH BA on it and it came with a 6 inch VH BA assembly. I asked if we could swap the barrels on it. He said yes. It had the multi tool with it. I removed the BA and inspected the threading. It was great, it also had a shroud guide pin installed on the frame. The other assembly went on without a hitch. I asked the dealer where did it come from and he stated it was taken in on a trade. He had no history of the gun or who did the work. My buddy, who has been wanting a Dan wesson for awhile went nuts over it. The price on the gun was $1000 with just the 2 BA's and tool. I told my friend lets get a hot dog and soda and talk about it. I informed him that there is no telling who built this gun. He said the revolver part was in good shape and I had to agree. He kept saying that it was unigue and I agreed. But I told him he could get a whole Pistol Pack for that kind of money. This went back and forth for 30 minutes. I told him to let me ask the Forum what they thought. So here I am. He wants it for a shooter. He has the dealers card and the dealer agreed to hold it for him till this coming Tuesday. I really don't know what to tell him. I don't want him to mess up. Your opinion would help, Thanks

The Hybrid was "probably" built by a reputable smith and is a nice piece. However it will always be a custom one off gun. For that kind of money your friend can buy a brand new gun that will have a warranty. And since he wants a shooter he could buy two. Just my two cents.

Wisdom is merely the realization of how little one knows, therefore I am wise.
