I was wondering what machinery is necessary for manufacturing a revolver? Looks to me like you could do a lot of it with a FlowJet (http://www.flowcorp.com/waterjet-products.cfm?id=112&gclid=CIGwmfre_5kCFdxM5Qod1Vt5Fw).
Thought this would possibility create some good discussion...

I want a job too...and WILL relocate!
I haven't had the pleasure to play with a Flow Jet, but I understand that machine is used to cut flat materials. With the amount of rounded 3-D type of cutting involved with a revolver manufacture, I would imagine a CNC machine would be a better choice.
However, I guess a Flow Jet could be used for making some of the internals & probably triggers and hammers.

May I suggest Texas?
Pro gun, pro 2nd amendment and may I note that if things really go haywire in the U.S. you wouldn't have to relocate to be in a seperate country...
Also big DWF contingent already here and our Moderator also knows the transportation routes in and out (can you say "Logistics Manager"?...
If you wanted to make one revolver, probably a lathe and a Bridgeport (miller) & a hell of a lot of time would do the job. If you don't have tooling, it's all about set up and set up time...
Regardsless, you'll need some special tooling to cut the rifling.
I think flow jet is more applicable to sheet type cutting as Charger noted, as opposed to boring / turning / etc.

I didn't have any idea about the type of machines that would be needed. I watched an episode of American Chopper and seen the FlowJet and thought it looked pretty cool.
I've been to Dallas and Houston and wasn't overly impressed with either of those places. How does Austin compare from a topography standpoint. I need some mountains around!
Also the only part of PA I've been to is Philly so I don't think I should judge the rest of the state based on my opinion of the city. 🙂

Good Lord Jody ...... NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Philly is NOT typical of PA! Nor is Pittsburgh!
Most of Pa (probably 90%) welcomes the ownership of firearms. More than most are looking for relief from the Obamanation......and support firearm ownership and 😉 manufacture.
Keep the ball rolling..... support is here! Over 1 million licensed hunters.........

UNfortunately, if you're looking for real topography, Texas is pretty limited. Just west of Austin is the officially designated "hill country" - but it sho' ain't the mountains of West Virginia (or anywhere else for that matter!).
That's funny about American Chopper - but, sure, flow jet would be perfect for sheet metal work.

Ya know...it's funny you started this topic "J"... that random thought ran thru my cranium a while back... re: buying the D/W name, tooling, ( if any is left, I bet Not),the "how too" plans, etc. I'd kind of be suprised if the patents are still in force as well.. soooo.... !!!
Anyway didn't think to put it up as a post.. but I'll bet if some one or some few put together a marketing / business plan.. some of us may invest ... I also have another idea about making another out of production but very popular firearm... and I'll bet some of ya'll have a couple in mind as well..
There are some really , really top notch gunsmiths around,, J.E Clark ,Shreveport La. comes to mind,( I have one of his piece's... really fine work http://www.clarkcustomguns.com/ ), and so a small shop that is putting out quality custom items would not be unheard of.
Of course the first thing , besides capital and lots of it, we would need is a gunsmith or master machinist type person familiar with set up and running of those expensive machines.
count me in for an investor and a South East regional sales/marketing manager/ salesman .
off topic.. kind of... sorry..
I've been to Tx... Houston, Dallas, Austin..( yeah.. no mountains sucks) and HOT.. throw in some Twisters and hurricanes...no thanks . .. but politically.. I like it a whole lot.. and Pa.. sorry way to Democratic/ liberal for me..( in other words the politicians can shift the ground out from under you in a heart beat..) the central highlands are cool.. but way to cold 1/2 the year... I'll stay here in Western NC.. thanks.
Dare to dream guys.. dare to dream...

I'm applying now for position of:
Resident Curmudgeon (don't bother looking it up, pretty much means Grumpy Old Man)
Believe me-I'M QUALIFIED
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Amazing how that Membership Alert worked, although he was probably registering even as as I put that one up. It was very weird to have a new addict, oops "member" come in so quick. I still remember the days where I could post, and go days without seeing anything in response.
These days were not so very long ago (our old friend Wayne)

Steve, Nice touch inserting the first post. This place feels like home away from home. I used to feel odd, interested in DW's and no one around me even knew what they were. Now we have a following of devoted fans who can share the common interest, to the point we want to start manufacturing again. It sure would be great to pull that off. I think the key would be to get Keith at CZ to jump on board. If only this darned didn't make it so easy to ponder these things...
