I had done the research and maybe only read what I wanted to find. The FBI told me what I wanted to hear. It took longer, but the ATF finally sent me the information and cited documentation that I had requested:
"Good morning,
Regarding your 1981 Dan Wesson .357 Revolver, Model 15-2, you would need a 16” barrel to be considered a GCA rifle. The revolver barrel length measurement takes place from the muzzle to the cylinder face per ATF form 4590 factoring criteria for weapons. https://www.atf.gov/firearms/docs/form/factoring-criteria-weapons-atf-form-4590 This link will take you to the publicly available 4590 form. Reference the revolver side under barrel length. If the barrel is under 16” and has a shoulder stock it would need to be registered with NFA as an SBR. The cylinder is not measured because it is not a fixed part of the barrel.
Thank you,

Tell them it's a bump stock with an arm brace.
Funny you should mention "arm brace", folding. But you know engineers, have to see if it could be done. For the record: I do not have one in my possession. Nor have I requested one to be made for me. And, if a package were to show up on my doorstep around Christmas time. I would not know what to do.
