What personal defense ammo are you using for home protection ?

My model 15  is loaded with six rounds of Magtech Guardian Gold JHP .357 mag 125 grn.

Backup is a non-DW loaded with five rounds of Federal Hydra-Shok JHP .38 110 grn.

I'm still running some of the old Federal NYCLAD--Gonna have to shoot it up soon though, it is getting a little old at this point.

Home defense are a FN FiveSeveN pistol and a 12 GA pump.

Conceal carry guns usually get either Remington Golden Saber or Federal Hydrashock; Cor Bon Self Defense DPX for the 380's.

At the moment, this gun is under my pillow...stuffed with reloaded 158gr Berry's flat point bullets.

Hollow points are undoubtedly best for home defense, so I guess I'll just have to use 5 or 6 of these to get the point across...Big Grin

Currently my 14-2 snubbie is loaded up with 125gr Golden Sabers (my Steyr S40 is loaded up with 165gr Speer Gold Dots too).

I happen to prefer nickel cased ammo for carry as I think it lasts longer stored in the gun. Not as big a deal for a wheel gun, but in an auto I think its more important as brass becomes less "slick" as it tarnishes.

Ideally I'd just shoot up my carry ammo regularly, but I ain't made of money.

Afraid, my gun stays unloaded. The dog and what ever I can grab are it. I have a 12yo boy at home. Prefer to be robbed over anything happening to him.

Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box

in that order.

Afraid I could not fathom the idea of not being prepared against an intrusion.

With a wife and a thirteen year old daughter in the house I fear what a scumbag

might do after he fills his pockets.

S&W Model 59, 14+1 9mm Silvertips, extra magazine with 14 more, SureFire flashlight.

Just recently added an AR-15 pretty close at hand as well.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

When you can, drop $80 and remedy that situation.

We have guns placed strategically around the house and workshop:

DW 15-2 4": Remington 125 grain SJHP

DW 44 6": Winchester Black Talon 250 grain SXT

S&W 10-6 4" .38: Federal Hydra-Shok +P 129 grain JHP

S&W 10-11 4" .38:  Federal Hydra-Shok +P 129 grain JHP

Mossberg 12 gauge pump: 00 Buck

My pocket & Wife's purse: North American .22 magnum

My Durango: Ruger SP101 .357: Remington 125 grain SJHP

Wife's Dakota: S&W 442 Airweight .38: Federal Hydra-Shok +P 129 grain JHP

We have others (including another 15-2) that get rotated out of the safe occasionally for their "time in the sun"

Grandkids do visit and we are vigilant with them; but we will never go without. My wife was happy to have the SP101 close at hand to discourage a noon-time break-in. Lucky for him, he did not succeed in entering the house. He's now serving 15 years in the state pen.

Glock 27, H&K USP Compact- both 40 S&W (155gr Hdy TAP) , and a 12 ga. (slugs and buckshot alternating) Mossberg 500 are placed at various places in the home.  All the DWs are in the safe, unloaded.

The 15-2 VH4 sports  38 SP 125gr Winchester silvertips ( just because someone gave them to me and this would be more likely used by theWife ) Also there is a Springer XDM 40 with I don't remember the type of hollow points but they hit the mark. And yes of course they both are in a digital lock box as the house is full of kids. The rest reside in the safe unloaded.

BTW-the original question is "What's in your Dan Wesson right now?" For me a fuller answer includes a DW 1911 in Condition 1 with CorBon DPX in the safe.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

wish the smiley with minigun had sound..?

When my Dan is in the safe he is empty(besides some of what IHMSA has also), right above the not empty AR.  But I have 2 smitties stashed about the house w/ speedloaders and surefire flashlights. and a derringer in barn, all with hollow point XTP's.  No kids and none visiting harldy ever either.   Oh and a BB rifle and .22 rifle on standby for four-legged critters.  Wife packs a ladysmith and I usually something that goes bang...or boom.

I'll second the small pistol safe...like the one with the finger grooves to open.

Sorry got off topic, shouldn't drink and drive keyboard late at night..ha ha

So what is in my dan? I strap it on when in the woods other than hunting.  We gots non-human shy bear and coyote and abandoned dogs in these parts.  Not problem really, i just super paranoid i guess.   In the dan is 240gr XTP and 220 sierra match solids staggered.  I know i wouldn't be able to hit a coyote coming at my dog but the yote would fall into the crater created by supermags impact?
