I did check on a blueing job for just a 6 inch shroud. The cost was 100.00 plus a 50.00 return fee. A little pricey. They told me to hold off for awhile, because of the pandemic. They would be behind. And they are not sure whats going to happen in New York.

I'm sure for any special order work, they have a minimum price that they charge for them to actually turn a profit. Even at that price, it's doubtful that they'll make any real margin.

As far as the pandemic, I'm not surprised that they're asking to hold off. All of my customers are manufacturers of one kind or another & it's absolutely crazy out there, either with no demand or unprecedented demand, depending on what they make and what they can convert their factory to make. I have one chemical manufacturer who has converted all of their facilities over to make disinfectant & hand sanitizer. They're making over 700,000 gallons a week of disinfectant. It's mind-boggling.

We need disinfectants. I work in the medical field. We are about to run out of PPE, mask etc. Hand sanitizers must have at least 60% alcohol in them to be effective. Some do not.

Check with Fords's Custom Gun Refinishing in Crystal River, FL.

Ok, I called, Ford's Custom finished. They are accepting orders. They charge 150.00 too for the shroud. They have a 4-6 week turn around time. I explained to the lady I wanted the Dan Wesson type finish. She called it, Master bluing. Its 450.00 for the whole pistol. Thanks snake-eye.

Eric  EWK used to do bluing at a very reasonable cost. When I checked with him a few months ago to  have a few shrouds  reblued,  He said that he has been very busy with the regular job and could not  take in bluing projects. Its also why the store has not been replenished recently. His bluing was very nice, a shade darker than the master blue finish. He cant do complete firearms since no FFL.

I can’t wait until he gets his new shop and machinery up and running. What’s he do for his regular job anyway? Must be in machining I’d imagine.

Thanks for the response. I would rather give business to EWK. I understand, he has to many irons in the fire at this time. Who knows with this pandemic, he might have some extra time. I sent him an email. I'll let you know what he says.

Saw the note about Ford's and had to comment. I sent my 1976, 15-2 VH pistol pac

down to them last year. The gun came back amazing. They cleaned up some minor

issues and the rebluing was perfect! Great communication with Nikki. I highly recommend them.

I'll post a pic of two if interested.
