So I'm visiting my DW "Happy Place", checking out the latest offerings to pass along to you guys, because I can't really afford another gun, and I spot this:
The price tag is turned over just to add to the suspense. It's a 1979 Model 22, and as you can see it has the Pachy Gripper. It was interesting, I have a 722 VH4, and have always said I'd like to get a Model 22 as well.
Let's flip the tag over and reveal that it comes with a wood grip and 8" barrel as well.
Do I buy or not?
Oh, I forgot to mention the price?
$499, and he will do a little better for cash (a little better means $499 out the door IMO).
It's on a 2 day (no money, they know me) "hold" and they have a VERY liberal lay-away policy.
I called my son to ask him to talk me out of buying another gun, his response was "why would I EVER talk you out of buying this gun?"
So, Buy or Not? I think I know the answer to this question, but a little DWF affirmation would go a long way here
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I would say go for it. With the extra barrel and Grippers (I like Grippers) it's a good price. And its always a great benefit to buy local where you get to check it out thoroughly before buying.
Do not resist the !!!!!

Let's see: $250 for a 8" barrel, $40 for a set of grippers; that leaves $209 for a 22V4; no brainer.
DING!DING!DING! You're a Winner-you picked up on my thought process exactly (which should be a major concern for you, Ron ).
Got enough Grippers already, I could sell one off.
I will (uh, I mean would) almost certainly sell off the 8", but I'll shoot with it first. Just as a side note, I love how the VH feels and balances in .357, but it always feels a little heavy in my 722 4VH. The 4V on this feels more like a .22 should feel.
I shoot about 10x times more .22 lr than everything else combined, this will (uh, would) be the fourth .22 lr.
Finally, it is pretty much a no brainer, and I have specialized over the years in demonstrating that I have no brain.
BTW, this gun is in very good condition, not perfect, but it does not have to be perfect. I waited too long on a 2 barrel Model 22 about 4 years ago at close to the same price and regretted it ever since (same gunshop too).

Actually, today I discovered that the 8" B/A is in like new condition, and there are TWO very nice wood grips with this, one is an Eagle grip, the other a dark walnut Combat/Sacramento type.
FYI, the box for the Gripper has a price tag on it, $18.75
