A bunch of us were having fun reminiscing about the "Good old day's" in the Topic titled
" A good night at the range". About how innocent and simple times use to be. Now I have a question for every Dan Wesson owner on this forum. When and where did you buy or obtain your very first Dan Wesson revolver? What model, configuration and what did you pay for it? How did you feel about it and the experience when you first fired it.

1978/79 model 15-2v 6" my brother and I each bought one, I'm thinking somewhere in the 250-260 range.
first time I shot it DA I aimed at a can 15ft away. fired 6 .357 shots rapid fire, 1st hit near the can, the rest gradually climbed into the air.
This was my first time shooting a handgun, the smile on my face took awhile to go away.
wessonman in Texas here...will never forget my 1st Dan Wesson... back in 1990 had a neighbor who worked for U.S.Customs and was a fellow gun nut like me...we would always be showing each other out our "toys" when we got them... I sold him a Sig at a good price...one day he showed me his Dan Wesson .357 Model 15-1 w/ 4 inch half lug bbl...said it was his wife's SD gun...
Well... not long after that, he got transferred up North...came over one night and said he wanted to give the Dan Wesson to me!... I could hardly believe it... I gratefully accepted his kind offer and could hardly believe this was true !!
It was a 1972 Monson .357 Model 15-1 in 98% condition....with box, papers, wrench, gage and 3 sets of grips (2 original Dan Wesson Grips) and a set of Pachmeyer(sp) ??
What a blessing ! Yes, I'll always remember my 1st Dan Wesson and the friend who so generously provided it to me out of the goodness of his heart !

I still own my first Dan Wesson; 715 V6. I bought it in Phoenix Hill, AL when I was in Master Gunner's school at Ft. Benning cir 1989. I was stationed in (West) Germany and am happy I read all the rules regarding taking a firearm to Germany at that time. Had a little hassle leaving Atlanta but got it all straightened out.

My first Dan Wesson, actually my first handgun, actually my first gun was a 15-2 6" I bought new in 1977 from Dunhams Sporting Goods in Pontiac, MI. Shot it a lot and used it for a lot of reloading experimentation. After several years I drifted away from shooting and sold everything except the DW, which moved with us to Iowa, Ohio, Michigan (again), Connecticut. After over 20 years of indifferent storage, it was resurrected. Cleaned up great, still shot great, and has become my son's first Dan Wesson.
Real old picture and it looks much worse in the picture than real life because this is the first digital picture I ever took of a gun.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I remember buying my first handgun from Sappington Guns and Ammo in 1980. I was 21 at the time and it was a 15-2V8. I shot the heck out of that gun and I still have it. It now has a set of zebra grips and a VH6 barrel on it, but I still have the original stuff for it. I think I paid $250.00 for it new.

My first was a 44 VH 6 with ported and non ported barrels. Purchased in 1994 from the widow of a family friend. I paid $400 for the DW and a Ruger Single Six 22 Mag only gun. I was really impressed with the bluing, even the Barney color. Really fell in love when I shot it the first time. My wife also loves shooting the 44. Now I have 3 44's, one of which is a 744 Pac with 6 & 8 VH shrouds, and ported & non ported barrels for each. I call them my 3 Amigos.

I bought my first Dan looking for a double action 22. I got a 22VH8 in near perfect condition about 2 years ago. I paid $600 as I recall. It's worth every penny of that to me. The trigger is so smooth I can't feel the break. The gun is so pretty I almost hate to shoot it. (Guess that means I should get another 22 to shoot. )
That model 22 was the beginning of the addiction. I followed it up with a 740V8, a 715 with 4 and 8" VH shrouds and a beater model 11.
I've been way too busy with work this year. Hopefully 2013 will be a little slower and more enjoyable. It'll be nice to get my finger back on the trigger again.

Greetings
came across my first DW in Chattanooga, Tenn. Year was late 1978 or possibly early 1979 . Pawn shop downtown near the rescue mission had a 15-2 6 inch Blue sitting in the glass shelf. Asked the feller what he wanted and he said $250 something. We haggled back and forth and out the door it went for $185. Still have it and no it is never for sale.

My first Dan was one of my 15-2's that I found at a gun show just after leaving the Navy and returning home, 1995. It only had the 4 inch ventilated barrel and the Walnut Target grips. Not even the barrel tool.
Paid about $225 which was a little lower than the going price for S&W or Colt's at that time.
It was just 'a' gun to share home defense duties with my Colt Peackeeper. Later on I sold the Colt like an idiot because I thought I was going to go all semi-auto.

Glad I kept the Dan! In fact here's a pic of the 2 nestled together sunning themselves.
