Hey CDF,
I have been doing some research on this as well. I have come up with two different tools that I think one could use to crank out some grips.
The first is a Sears Craftsman Router Recreator. Unfortunately this tool is no longer made so finding one used is the only option. I have searched high and low for one and haven't been lucky so far.
The second is similar to the Craftsman Router Recreator and is called a T-110 Dupli-Carver http://www.terrco.com/t110.php. I gave them a call yesterday and this one sells for $499 plus about $35 for shipping.
I think this could be used to make one piece grips using some kind of jig. But as it's been discussed I'm still trying to wrap my head around how to do the in-letting.
I'll also do some research on medallions as well and see what I can come up with. It would be pretty cool to the some DWF or DWCA medallions to use on custom grips.

Well I just looked at a set of Hogues I have and it looks like they are in fact two pieces! So that might make inletting them a little simple…
Just thought I would share…
Hmmm… that's very sneaky of them.
It would explain the difficulties I've been having though.
I guess I might see what kind of damage I can do with this info this weekend.
Thanks Jody.
I would still be interested to know how they stick 2 pieces of Cocobolo together.
