I am new here. My first post.
Just spent a some time looking around trying to date my revolver. I've shot it quite a bit, accurate as hell.
I inherited a 22 Target. It is a small frame, although the only small part is the cylinder.
Vented rib, 6" barrel, blue, SN 853X. I did put on DW grip, though not original to the revolver. I have the original, but it has a chip. Manufactured in Monson MA. Tried in vain to attach pic. The cylinder has the typical scratch ring from the stop.
Much appreciated.
Welcome to the forum. Worry not about the original grip. Dans happily wear any grip we like, unlike other revolver brands who make a big fuss over uncomfortable original grips. Look on ebay for tools, grips and additional barrel assemblies. When you are ready for a centerline, check Gunbroker for the best selection. Watch a while to get a feel for values. Two thirds of the listings are overpriced.

Welcome to THE forum for Dan Wesson's. There is a wealth of information here from old posts and generous members. The more you learn about your Dan the more you will appreciate the enduring quality of your firearm. It's very tricky to judge the mfg date of a Dan from serial number alone but you're probably safe to say it dates from the early 80's. I sold one in very good condition, deep blue wth a few light scratches, and in the original box, for $600 about six months ago. $500-600 is a general range. An heirloom takes on a value of it's own. Congratulations on your acquisition!

Thanks for the responses. I've had the revolver for some twenty years. It was all locked up with powder residue and lube. A few good cleanings and I had me a fine pistol.
The small frame size designation was confusing since it's of N frame proportions. The cylinder is smaller when compared to a 25-5. I like the weight. It does not move when fired.
