Hi everyone! I'm normally a happy, go lucky kinda guy, but it is with a heavy heart that I greet you today. You see, I'm grieving for the death of the Constitution in our not so great State of Connecticut I'm sure many people around the country heard how the General Assembly essentially carved up the 2A last night. Oh well, off to the courts.
I have a DW .44 Mag and LOVE it. It is my favorite gun, bar none. I just happened across it by accident, too. After watching "Dirty Harry" for the millionth time on TV I really, really had the bug to go out and buy a .44 mag. (Does that seem a little childish? Yes? Good.) I have other handguns, but none of that caliber. They're all smaller. So I mosey on down to the gun store and ask the owner for either a S&W Model 29 or 629 whatever he might have in stock. He had neither and almost sent me home with nothing that day. At the last minute, he remembered something he put in his safe instead of the display case. It was a DW .44Mag. I had never heard of them before, so I questioned him about it and was a bit skeptical-though the gun was gorgeous. He told me to go home and research it and he was sure I'd be back the next day to pick it up. Boy was he right! I'm so glad I did and couldn't be happier.

Let's try that again: Here's the text that goes with those pics:
Steve. The Constipation State just begins to scratch the surface of it. After all, I'm sure you heard the Gov. call us "the fringe of the fringe" on March 11th.
I'll try to kill 2 birds with 1 stone by answering you question with pics. The first is my beloved DW .44 and my wife's S&W .38 snubby. It's almost a kind of a father/son (more like distant cousins, I guess) type picture. The other pic is my S&W Model 469 9mm and Kel-Tec .32. The 469 is my regular carry piece, but I sometimes use my wife's .38 as well. The Kel-Tec stays in the safe mostly, as it hasn't proven as reliable as I'd like. In fact, I used to have a Kel-Tec SU-16 .223 rifle that was such a piece of crap that it had to go back to the factory twice and then I just let it sit in my safe until I bought a Bushmaster instead and sold the KT to Cabela's. I know other people probably have KTs that they love, but to me the .32's only redeeming quality is its small size to easily conceal.
I don't have pics of my others, but I have everybody's old stanbys-the Ruger 10/22 rifle. and 22/45 pistol, both of which I like a lot. Add in a Mossberg 500 set up for home defense and that rounds out the collectionl assuming Governor Take My Guns lets me keep them.

Iceman95, welcome to the
I don't blame you in the slightest for being peeved of your state's current situation. It's too bad that it's not easy for the average person to quit their job, sell their home & move out of state during one weekend, because witnessing a mass exodus over a decision like this would be fun to watch.
Nice looking handgun family!

Thanks, CF. You hit the nail on the head about moving out. My wife and I were considering moving to New Hampshire in a few years, but this has quickened that process. We'd like to get out of here as soon as possible. We vacation in New Hampshire every year and have made a few friends there. We love it and will begin looking for ways to get out of CT and to NH very soon.
BTW-if anyone knows of any decent paying jobs in northern New Hampshire please let me know. Something that would be a career, not just part time work that may or may not be there in the future.
Also, CF, your location reminded me that my wife, a friend, and I are taking the Utah non resident permit class tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

Thanks for the pix. I owned a P3AT, which bothered me a little as well, reliability-wise. I did the "fluff and buff" on KTOG, which worked pretty well.
P3AT traded in on a Colt Mustang, which was not the right choice for me, but a very cool gun.
I have an LCP now, and it is a very good gun, mine has a LaserLyte red dot on it, which really rocks. It's pretty rare that my "Lil Friend" is not pretty close by

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one having problems with the KT. I was talking with a gunsmith 2 days ago who has the same one I do and he couldn't believe I was having problems with it. He said his was great-no issues. After reading about the "fluff and buff" on KTOG (thanks for the idea and link) I realize that many of us are having the same problem with these guns. I many spend some time doing that, but it's not in the immediate future. I will be talking with the gunsmith in the next few weeks about other issues, but can't wait to tell him that there's a whole bunch of people out there fluffing and buffing because KT didn't get it right in the first place.

I think KelTec does some great stuff, and really pioneers in some aspects of gunmaking. The F&B is not unlike our "Average Joe Tune-up". All that said, the LCP works out of the box, and it's in .380, a caliber I'm comfortable with (as long as I'm using the right ammunition) to be my "always there, last ditch choice".

So I don't seem like quite the jerk my KT comments might make me out to seem, I'll say that those issues were MY experience and I completely understand that there are probably many people out there who have had just the opposite experience and are very happy with those guns. I believe I heard that KT was aware of their problems after a while and tried to address them. If that's true, I commend them for fixing them. In my case I was especially upset with them about my SU-16 rifle because the first time I sent it back I asked them if there was some design flaw, etc that needed to be addressed. They specifically told me no and that my issue was a fluke. After the second time I sent it back they admitted to me that there was a design flaw in the bolt and that they had redesigned it. I will say, after that second time, it was better. I just felt lied to about the whole situation.
Anyway, I won't preach about it anymore. I just wanted to say that I can be open minded about it.
