Hi,
I’ve owned a 6” Dan Wesson 715-2V (Monson) for about 15 years. I bought it used when I was looking for a center-fire revolver. I ended up being interviewed by a local TV news crew that was at the gun shop doing a feature on the stupid “one (regulated, meaning handguns and some rifles/shotguns) gun a month” purchase restriction instituted by the morons in the Maryland legislature. The 715 has always been a great shooter and has caused several friends to buy their own DW revolvers after shooting it.
Almost three years ago I bought a barrel wrench, 4” VH barrel and shroud from CZ/Dan Wesson (great to deal with, thank goodness they offer these items, as the auction sites were always very pricey) so I could use the gun in IDPA. I had a local gunsmith polish the action and install a Wolff Reduced Power spring set. That made a great gun even better. The DW shoots better than I ever will.
About a year and a half ago I crossed off my longtime wish list a Model 15-2V Pistol Pack (another Monson). I stumbled into a fantastic deal and needed to add only the DW patch and belt buckle to complete the set. Unfortunately, I have not had the time to get it to the range with other obligations and shooting activities. I’m really looking forward to trying out that 8” barrel!
I’d eventually like to get a Model 44/744 and 22 (Pistol Packs are my dream acquisitions).
I’ve been a member of a couple of other DW online forums as well as the S&W site, which is how I became aware of this new forum.
Thanks for starting this forum and I hope to be able to contribute to this great resource.
Take care,
Matt
Welcome to the forum!
Sounds like you have a couple of nice revolvers. I have both a 744 and a 722. The 744 came with 6", 8" and 10" barrels but no case and my 722 on came with a 6V barrel. At the last show I went to I was able to pick up some orginial barrels and shrouds for the 722 at a great price. I got a 6VH and 8VH for about $160.
I love both of these guns. I also have a 445 Supermag, 738p, and 2 15-2's.
Again thanks for joining the forum!
