Hi all! I just bought my first Wesson (.44mag fixed barrel, Palmer). Bought it on impulse when I saw it in the display.  I knew a little about Dan Wesson history, but trying to research the gun lead me here.  Haven't been able to get to the range with it yet, but hope to soon.

Welcome to the Forum, fixed barrel DW's are pretty uncommon, thanks for putting up a picture.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The shop had it listed (and the sales transaction paperwork lists it) as a Dan Wesson 44HV.  I'm guessing this is incorrect?  It definitely doesn't have the vented rib, anyway.

Welcome to the forum!  Looks like you picked up a nice fixed barrel there.

Over the years the Dan Wesson revolvers have been produced by a several different companies.  Between 1992 and 1995 the company was called Wesson Firearms. Prior to this time frame the company was called Dan Wesson Arms and after this  period it was called Dan Wesson Firearms.   This also coincides with changes in the location of manufacture:

  • 1971 – 1992 Monson, MA
  • 1992 – 1995 Palmer, MA
  • 1997 – 2005 Norwich, NY Under Bob Serva
  • 2005 – current Norwich, NY CZ owned (these guns will say CZ on them)

Thanks for sharing your photo and story.  I hope you enjoy the forum and let us know if we can be of any help.

Jody

Welcometo theDWF Sign. Yes I suspect the shop had it listed wrong. The model is probably listed as 44FB, but info on model numbers is a little sketchy. Either way it's a nice lookin piece.
