Hello,
I am brand new to the Dan Wesson world and am hooked already. I purchased 2 revolvers, both of which I believe are 15-2's. One has a 6" VH barrel and the other an 8" V barrel.
I do have a question right off the bat. This 6" VH gun is stamped Monson, Mass. USA but it is in such pristine condition it's hard to believe that it's old enough to have been produced there. Furthermore, it has a red plastic insert in the front sight. But the thing that really puzzles me is that the cylinder is not recessed, I thought all DW's were. I bought this gun online and didn't realize this until I got it.
The serial # is 357 B0065xx
Can anyone help me figure out what I've got here?
Thank you,
Mark

That is likely a later Monson gun, from the time just before manufacturing moved from Monson to Palmer. This was a very confused time regarding Serial Numbers, there is not much information for this time. Earlier Monson guns did have recessed chambers, but most definitely not all Monson guns had this feature, it's not clear when this was changed.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
