This is my first time to this forum. Just want to say Hello. Live in Western Arkansas. Any members from Arkansas. Have a Colt 1911 right now but looking for another 1911. Have had CCL since 1996, carry about every day.

788, I have been a vol firefighter for 27 years and vol as an EMT for the county EMS for 10 years
The reason I use firefightero5 because I ride a Harley Davidson 2005 Firefighter model.
I enjoy both bikes and guns, sound like a good name for a sing.

Welcome to DWF, it's great to have another 1911 guy here. If you have an interest in a Dan Wesson 1911, this 10mm Pointman was still available as of a week ago. It is a consignment gun that has not sold, and the owner may consider an offer less than the $799 asking:
https://www.danwessonforum.com/?page_id=3/for-sale/dw-pm-10s/
It's available at my favorite local (CT) Dan Wesson funshop, is in great condition, and is absolutley rock solid.
PM if you're interested, and again
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

aboard, glad to have ya!
How's the weather in Arkansas today? It's pretty darn frigid at my house this week…I want summer back!
If you'd like, you're more than welcome to post pics of your Colt in the "1911 Pistols" section, there's more than a few of us who would love to see it.

I don't know much about 10 mm guns. I have always had a 9 mm or a 45. I want
a carry model that is SS with a bobtail, that will work great at the range as it is carried. I
carrying with a Milt Spark Shark Skin crossdraw holster. People say this is the wrong type
of carry but it fits me.

A late to you Firefighter05. If you do get into a DW 1911 you'll like it. I just got one a little while back and the quality is outstanding. If you happen to get into a DW revolver, you''ll like that even more I'd suppose. They are just the top of the double action guns IMHO. Thanks for joining and stopping by.

stevect: do you know of what DW 1911 in stainless steel, would make the best
ever day carry. I want it in 45 acp, to carry in a crossdraw holster.

Commander Bobtail (CBOB) seems to be the overwhelming choice for carry.

If Stainless is not a must have, another choice is the CCO, smaller than the CBOB
http://cz-usa.com/products/view/dan-wesson-cco-bobtail/
If a Gov't Model is OK for you for daily carry, you could go with the PM 7, that would be kind of big for daily CCW for me
All of these are pretty pricey compared to DW 1911 costs of even 6 months ago
