I’m sorry if this question has been asked before, I am new to the forum and relatively new to Dan Wesson Firearms. From the reading I have done I’ve come to the conclusion that I have a Model 14-2 Service Revolver, but please correct me if I’m wrong. This gun was purchased in the mid 80s by my mothers first husband, unfortunately she doesn’t remember much about it. While the revolver is technically hers, I grew up shooting it and I am the one who is most interested and continue to shoot it. Needless to say, I love the gun, not only is it beautiful, it shoots like a dream. Sorry for all the gushing, but it’s nice to find people who love their guns as much as I love this one. Now all that being said, I do want to change a few things and the original question I have remains. While I know the gun doesn’t have the Vented Heavy designation, I want to put the VH 8” Barrel & Shroud on it, mostly because I love th way 8" barrels look and it will mainly be a range gun. My main question is would I be able to do that, even though it is not a VH “submodel”? Where could i find the shroud for a decent price? Also one other thing I love about the gun, when my mom got it the trigger was too heavy so they had some trigger work done. As a result the trigger is absolutely phenomenal. Thank you in advance.
Well Steve didn't move you and you did introduce yourself, so, you can turn it into an 8 VH. But it won't be reasonable. EBay is where to find a barrel assembly. Expect to pay 250 to 325 for an 8VH. Unless you can find a cosmetically challenged one for less. You will need to buy a special front sight from EWK, to replace the standard sight on the 8. A link is at the bottom or side of this page. A nice pair of target grips can be purchased on eBay too. Search under Dan Wesson Hunting. The conceal round butt or undercover grips you have are quite sought after. Find the "Average Joe Tuneup" thread and perform as much as you feel comfortable with doing. Certainly do a good cleaning. Someone will give you a link I am sure. Good luck and welcome to the forum. Oh, what ever you do, do not look on Gunbroker at other Dan Wessons for sale or you will be infected with Dan Wesson Acquisition Syndrome, or DWAS for short. It is incurable but it can be controlled by impoverishment.

to BGSH !
The VH designation is a type of shroud and has nothing to do with the frame it is mounted on. Your revolver model is a 14-2, which can have a wide variety of shroud types and options.
First, there are four different styles; Standard rib, Vented rib (V), Heavy underlug (H) and Vented rib Heavy underlug (VH). Then, there are two options; Slotted (S) and Compensated (C).
The Model 15 has seven barrel lengths available; 2-1/2", 4", 6", 8", 10", 12" and 15" ... I don't know if fixed sight BA's go that long though.
Last thing; as Ole Dog said, the M14 shrouds have a different front sight arrangement and is at a different height than the M15 shrouds, due to the rear fixed and adjustable sight differences. But there are adapters, so that you can mount a 15 shroud on a 14.

Hello from Ohio !!
True 14 model ba's are a little harder to find, but as Stinger and Ole Dog said a 15 will work w/custom
sight from EWK. I have 2, 1 is the one EWK sells and he made a .035 taller one for me and I ended up
getting a 15-2 frame and don't use either. If you find a ba and want these, PM me and let me know
