While I am currently in Zagan, Poland, I'm actually from San Antonio, Texas and have a home in Loei, Thailand. I am working here for the next few years.

Fortunately, there is an active IDPA organization in Poland. I am hopeful next year I will be able to join and participate. Weapons laws in Poland are very restrictive, so I don't have anything here yet. Back home I have a few Kimbers, a Sig P238, and numerous other single action pistols.

So why is a Kimber/Sig/S&W single action owner joining the Dan Wesson forum?

Well, I aspire to be the owner of a Dan Wesson pistol. I decided at the end of 2019, my next acquisition was going to be a Dan Wesson Guardian. Why yes, that Honest Outlaw video review was a key factor in pushing me to the Guardian. How did you know?

Well, with the virus, etc. prices that were barely affordable before quickly skyrocketed out of my range. CZ-USA/DW discontinued the Guardian in 2019, but announced an updated version for 2020. Unfortunately, they are basically unoptanium right now. Nobody has any, and even used are going for over SRP (one used on GunBroker right now is $1800 with multiple bids).

For now, I am biding my time. Maybe I'll come across a used one I can buy, or maybe more will be produced. I figure this is a good place to learn more and maybe get early word when production ramps back up. I probably should add, I am hoping to find one in 38 Super, with 45 ACP as a second choice.

Cheers,
Brian

Thanks.

Yes, sometimes I seem to get around too much. I'll finally be in one place for at least 3 years, so I am looking forward to pursuing some of my interests instead of just reading about them.

Here's a long distance welcome to the forum from PA, USA!!!!! Great choice, the Guardian was my first DW as well as my entry into gun ownership.

Thanks. That's a very nice first firearm.

My first was a Winchester Model 94AE in 30-30 I bought at Wilson's department store for $300 when I was 18. A few years later, it was taken in a burglary. Amazingly, the San Antonio PD recovered it 6 years later (thank you SAPD!) and it looked pristine.

My first pistol was a Colt M1991, but I started carrying about the same time my company gave me a huge bonus which took the form of a Cabela's gift card. I special ordered a Kimber Ultra CDP. I really like my Kimber (has always run very reliably through thousands of rounds and many training courses). I even bought a similar Kimber Micro380 CDP, which I also like very much. However, in 2019, I decided I wanted a new EDC, preferably a Commander sized 1911 with a bobtail. That was when I caught a video about the Guardian by "Honest Outlaw." The Guardian has just about everything I wanted. It was simple, understated, and I thought it looked great.

The trick now is finding one. The Dan Wesson website still lists it as part of their current line-up (updated Guardian 2), but there just aren't any out there.

Welcome to the forum from the West Coast of Canada.

My first hand gun purchase was actually two guns at once: a Colt cadet .22LR for plinking, and a Dan Wesson 15-2 with an 8" and 10" barrel set.  The rest has been a DW slippery slope.

Welcome from Poland, which I hear can be awesome.  My first ever gun was/is a Glock G35 because, well you know….then I eventually stumbled on a DW Pointman 10 and was hooked instantly.  From 1911s, my taste has moved to wheel guns and DWs are the bees knees. I love love love DW Supermags and they’re incredibly entrenched with such innovation and history.  Plus, they just keep going up in value.
