I got my first Dan Wesson out of a pawn shop while in college. They had no idea what it was and so I got it cheap. I ran out of money and gave it to my landlord in lieu of rent. Well, a long series of pistols later, and I'm back to using a 15-2h with an 8" barrel as my primary defense weapon. I gave my IMI Baby Eagle .40 S&W to the wife (she loves it so it's win/win) and I have a gun I can actually reliably hit with.
It's a combination of the sights and the grip angle. Of course, the trigger is absolutely delightful as well, but I've never found a semi-auto that was a 'natural pointer' and most revolvers are off as well. The only thing I need to do is track down my former land lord and get him to sell me the oversized custom wood grips that were on my first one and I'll be happy.
Sure, I now have just six rounds, as the DW reloads a bit slowly, but I can hit on the first shot anywhere, any time.

Welcome to DWF. As you look around the Site, you will discover that we have an excellent custom gripmaker "in-house". If you can't get your originals back, lbruce might be able to help you out.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Hello everybody. I came here to see if anybody knows anything about my DW "Virginia Revenuer" pistol. I've already posted in the Revolvers subforum but figured I'd come here and introduce myself.
I live on the Outer Banks of NC and work as a real estate appraiser. I like boating, fishing, flying, shooting, etc. I'm a wheeler/dealer and usually have any number of interesting things for sale or trade like boats, jet skis, etc. I will usually accept guns in trade, only once I get a gun I will rarely ever get rid of it. Right now my pistol collection includes several Colts from the 1930's and one from 1895, a few S&W's from the 20's and 30's (I think), the DW Virginia Revenuer, a CZ-27, a sig sauer p245, and a few other random pistols.
I'd have to say the best shooting pistol I have is an old Colt .380 from the 1930's with my DW coming in a close second. The worst shooting pistol I have is the sig sauer. I could aim at a person sized target at 25 yards with that gun...and end up shooting myself in the foot. I'm pretty sure that gun is more accurate when you throw it at your target than when you shoot it.

I'm gradually getting into older guns myself (ok, I draw the line at the Sig ), and would love to see some shots of your neat collection thus far. We have an "other gun" pic area here... https://www.danwessonforum.com/?page_id=3/other-brands-1/ ...with some Colts & Smiff's & such. Pics of neat toys are most definitely welcome, if you feel up to it.
