Well, I finally made it to the range with my Dan, and I have to say it was the smoothest piece I have ever used. I am certianly going to make sure this one is at the top of my list when going out for a shoot. Of course I am telling everyone what they already know, but I thought I would pass that on.
I was shooting American Eagle FMJ in .357. I may have to adjust my sights, but before I do I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on good ammo to feed a model 15. I may be opening the proverbial can of worms on this question, but I wanted to make sure that the ammo was not the cause before I start making sight adjustments. I was coming in a bit high at about 25 yards. On the way home I stopped at a local hardware store and picked up some Fiocchi hollow points, but have yet to shoot them.
Just thought I would ask.

P.S. I didn't get any snapshots of my work, but I will next time. I know pictures are worth a thousand words.

For ammo for my .357 I pretty much shoot whatever I can buy when I am at a local gun shop. I like American Eagle for range days, it is priced reasonably and normally pretty available around here in 158gr. I think it shoots a little cleaner than some other comparably priced .357s. Buy whatever brand you can get normally in your area and adjust the sights to suit. The Dan will handle most any.

There are two ways I know of to get consistent, repeatable results with any ammunition in any gun.
1) Find a commercial load you like, and buy a bunch of it, preferably from the same lot, or
2) Reload your own ammunition. Work up some loads you like, and then just keep making it.
I will say that I don't mind sighting in for a new load anytime I go shooting,I just run 10-20 rounds off first to warm everything up, and then adjust the sights as needed. I have never had much luck sighting in on a "cold" gun
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

All right. I made it to the range by myself the other day and took some time to examine my shot patterns. Steve, your advice was pretty good. I found I shot pretty consistantly once I threw a few rounds down range to warm the pistol up. Not sure why that happened, but it did make a difference.
I printed some free targets from the Midway USA and printed hostage target from another website. I am not an expert shot by any means, and I know that many of those in this forum are, so please don't judge too harshly (after all this is only the second time I got a chance to shoot it). Below are the tragets based on distance. I know that you all love pics so I thought I would post my fun day at the range. If they are posted correctly it should show the first target at 7 yards, the next at 10 yards, then 15 yards and then 20 yards. Finally there is the hostage target (2 pictures of it) at 10 yards.
Hope you enjoy them.

Well I tried to edit the prior post but it wouldn't take. Anyway, the pictures wound up backwards, it was supposed to show the 7 yards first and the hostage pictures last (once the gun was warmed up). Looks like I really need to practice posting my pictures. Ha. Let me know what you think.
