HI FOLKS, I'M A NEW MEMBER FROM CENTRAL FLORIDA.WAS RECENTLY LOOKING FOR A 357 SNUB NOSE AND FOUND A GREAT CONDITION MODEL 14-1 SER. NO. 330XX MONSON PRODUCED DAN WESSON.ONLY THING I'M WORRIED ABOUT IS PARTS AVAILABILITY.I REALLY LIKE THE HEFT OF THIS REVOLVER.IT SHOULD HELP TO MANAGE RECOIL COMPARED TO LIGHTER OFFERINGS. I'VE BEEN READING POSTS HERE FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AND DECIDED TO REGISTER.LOOK FORWARD TO SHARING AND LEARNING MORE ABOUT A TRULY AMAZING FIREARM. WILL POST A PICTURE SOON AS I CAN. JIM
Welcome Jim from Ocala. I too am fond of the porkchops. Especially the early ones with the short DA hammer throw. Wolff reduced power springs and the 8 lb mainspring makes them unbelievably smooth and light. The lockwork feels like the tumblers on a bank vault lock falling into place. Another nice feature is how easy it is to remove the cylinder for thorough cleaning. Be aware that the barrels are not easy to come by as the are 1/4" shorter.
High Standard Sentinel MK II and I II are the same as the 14-1and 15-1. Right now porkchops are the last great value in Dan Wesson land.

Ole Dog, What can you tell me about interchangeability of firing pins between small frame 357 models? My new jewel (model 14-1) turns out has a busted firing pin . Trying to locate a replacement
I gave my extra one away a while back or I would help you out. As far as I know, the firing pins of all 357 Dans are interchangable, if not identical. You might try Dan Wesson in Norwalk. Don't call CZ. If no one helps with the means of contact I will look through my phone at another time😉. A forum member may have one. They very rarely show up on eBay. I will check Gunbroker.

Thanks Ole Dog. I've got the contact info for Norwich, NY . Also found them at Numrich for model 15's. Looking at the schematics for the model 14 , 15. and 12 ,the one that appears to be in my model 14-1 looks just like the one in the model 12 schematic but it's not in stock. The pins in the model 14 and 15 schematics look different than mine but are the same in both of those models. They may be machined a bit differently but may still work. Thanks again from LADY LAKE, splashnavy
Well, it is a small world. I am in the north side of the county but I go to Deland all the time and often go the southern way. My FFL Buddy operates Stone Mountain Guns and Gold in Deland. I think the firing pins will work from either model including a 15 or 15-2. If you want to shoot a Dan in the meantime I am at your service. I have a few to choose from😆
Good deal. If you need advice putting it in or a punch let me know. Since you will have the gun apart you can clean it. If you want to test a 14 with the Wolff Springs you can do that too. The Wolff reduced power trigger return spring is the single best thing you can do to smooth and lighten the action in my opinion. Eliminates the scratchy feeling.

Got my parts from Numrich today, did the install and found the firing pin is to short or doesn't protrude enough(maybe 1/32) and runs out of travel. I'm guessing the other style of pin is longer from the shoulder or is not tapered slightly like the new one. Even the firing pin return spring I pulled out was straight with the new one being tapered. Oh well, back to square one. splashnavy

I haven't had the firing pin out of any of my D11 or W12's as of yet...however, judging from magazine articles from around 1971, the firing pin was indeed one of the two weak links in the initial DW design, and was updated (superceded) to a more robust design. Finding an original firing pin will likely prove to be an exhaustive feat. However, I'm sure a smith worth his oats could easily make one. 🙂

CHARGER FAN AND BOSS DOG ,THANKS FOR THE INPUT AND WELCOME . IT IS MUCH APPRECIATED. I HAVE DROPPED OFF MY MODEL 14-1 AT A LOCAL GUNSMITH REFERRED BY OLE DOG , AND IF HE CAN'T FIND ONE THROUGH HIS SOURCES HE WILL MAKE ONE. JUST HAVE TO TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND PATIENTLY WAIT AND LET THE WIZARD WORK HIS MAGIC. SPLASHNAVY

The Gunsmith took awhile to get around to my pork chop snubnose (was really backed up) but it was worth the wait. Took me several months due to the work schedule to get out to test it out . Double action is good, and single action pull is almost scary. I just about have to think about it and it sends one down range. The smith ended up modifying a firing pin from a model 15-2 to function in my 14-1.Shout out to Old Dog for the referral and thanks to all for your helpful input .

Good to know for those of us who own similar firearms.
Keep that Smith's address Ron.
