New DW owner here in the People's Republik of Kalifornia.
I'm a retired squid that has recently rediscovered an addiction from my yoote. My main thing is old S&W wheelguns though I'm still pretty much a n00b at those. I've missed a couple smokin' deals because I had no clue. By the time I did my research & went back they were gone.
Wife & I were at the range today & a DW Model 15 4" had just gone in the case. Absolutely beautiful weapon, doesn't appear to have been used much. I don't know a lot about DW except they have a rep for quality. The blueing on this gun looks definitely old skool.
SN is 236xxx if anybody knows where I can find info on it. I'll see if I can get some pics next time I'm down there. Oh yeah. Here in Kalifornia I get to wait FORTY FREAKIN' DAYS for a consignment gun.

That S/N will likely make it a 15-2 (adjustable sights) or 14-2 (fixed sights) of 1979 vintage. DW's have a great reputation for durability, accuracy, and excellent bluing.
You can learn more about Dan Wesson here:

Once you get it, go as far with this as you feel comfortable to clean and lube it up:

And Welcome to DWF.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Welcome...
My understanding is that Cali, will not allow the import of any gun that the manufacture cant/wont send in for testing. Since the DW wheel guns are not in production, this leaves only those guns that are grandfathered in. Given that, if you want one... better snap it up.
Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box
in that order.
4 Monson Model 15's
1 Palmer FB 15
1 Rossi 357 Model 92 (lever)
1 CZ 75B
First welcome to the
You need to move to the good ol' USA! Here in Virginia we have the instant background check. So if you have the money and pass the background check you are on your way to the range with a new toy in short order.
Most of the time it takes like than 5 minutes for approval.

I wonder if CZ will submit new 715's for testing?
If the design is identical, would that include prior production?
Sorry to hijack, but hmmmm???

Thanks for all the replies. It is, according to the DB, a 1979 vintage. Adjustable sights w/ red inserrt front & white outline rear, vent rib barrel, large beautiful target style stocks.
Identical design means nothing to the antis, err... I mean Dept. of Justice. Colt will not be selling their Centennial edition 1911 here because they've given it it's own model number. No other changes, but it can't be sold here without paying the extortion.
