Hello to all. Glad to have found this site, I'm a locomotive driver in Victoria and enjoy shooting. Have wanted a DW pistol since l can remember thou they are few and far between in Australia.
Attended a gun show this weekend and stumbled upon a mint 715 fixed 6"barrel for $450. What a bargain. Anyway its nice to be a part of a family. Cheers all. Will post pics when l have her.

Danny, Welcome aboard the DWF. Glad you were able to find a Dan Wesson. I don't think you'll be disappointed . We here at the forum, we love pics of other folks Dans, almost as much as we love our own Dans. Glad you found us mate. Look forward to your photos and a range report.

Thanks everyone for the friendly welcome. l most certainly will post some pics as soon as l take possession, you see here in Australia one has to submit paper work and then have it endorsed by the club that you are a member with, then all said paper work is sent to the governing body (Licencing and weapons division) for approval to then receive a permit in the mail called a Permit To Acquire which then has to be taken to a bank for a payment activation $47.50. Take permit to transferring dealer which will charge anywhere from $25 to $50 to put pistol through their books prior to pick up.
All said and done this can all take up to a month to happen. Getting itchy feet now.

It's great to see all of our Aussie DW brothers finding us!
I don't say this to make you feel bad or gloat, but to remind myself how lucky I am. In Texas, the last time I purchased a handgun (excluding the financial transaction) I was done filling out the paperwork, presenting my ID and having the dealer run the check in about 5 minutes. From time to time, I just need to remind myself..........................

if you find one...what's your plan?

Same here in Utah. I feel very fortunate that I don't have to wait like this. 5 minutes and I'm outta there!
