Thanks for a great website!!! I have always been into guns and never thought of a Dan Wesson before more of a auto shooter but I just had a guy trade one in on a Glock I was selling. Super nice one with a 70,3xx serial number like new. Said his dad bought it new shot it a few times and put it in the safe. He got it when he passed away and it will not revolve the cylinder. Gave him $250 for it then found out all I need to do is back the barrel out a little bit. Cannot wait to shoot it. I do need a box for it so if you have a spare please let me know.

Well thats what we call GTDW. Grand Theft Dan Wesson. .. I will say you have acquired one of the best revolvers ever made. That serial probly puts you in 76' vintage. If its been a safe queen, I highly recommend a thorough cleaning and a barrel cylinder adjustment. Check out the average joe tune-up, in the gunsmith, reloading forum. Great section for the new DW owner. Can't wait to see some pics of her. BTW, to ....

Looks like a great trade!
Welcome to DWF, my wife and I lived in Iowa for a few years, a lot of years ago, and our daughter was born there.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Welcome to the forum. Bet you were surprised when you realized it wasn't broken. Haha. My FFL buddy keeps telling me it is not his job (or mine ) to educate sellers. Your gun looks in great shape. WARNING! When ejecting cases keep the 2cd and 3rd fingers of your left hand extended through the frame and pushing the cylinder to keep it from closing while pushing the extractor rod. It also helps to tilt the gun to the left. The extractor star will scratch the sideplate and gouge the recoil shield if the cylinder closes while extracting cases. Almost all used dans have these marks. By the time you realize what does it (the scratches ) , it is too late. Those are very unusual grips by the way. They look like factory thumb rest grips. You have a very early model 15-2. Dan Wesson used a lot of different grip manufacturers and designs in the beginning. Treat them nicely.
